I just need some advice...

Two days ago my girlfriend met me during her spare from school and we hung out for the morning together... I walked her half way back to her high school and then I had to turn around and go home. After I left her, her ex-boyfriend showed up and grabbed her trying to force her to talk about something when she tried to run away he hit her and left several brusies on her arm... she refuses to go to the police because she doesn't think anyone will belive her. I started walking with her now all the way back to her school when we hang out but I need some advice... is there anything else I could do I mean I could try to call the police myself but would they belive me... I could try to call her parents but I doubt they'ed belive me cause they think that she's suicidal at the momment and would probably think she did it to herself... so I need advice is there anything I can do?

Well, what he did was assault so you could call the police. More than likely they would believe you or your girlfriend if you show them your girlfriend's bruises.

Her parents on the other hand I'm not so sure. The least you can do is try.

Well if she said that no one would belive her, then im guessing her ex was the one that told her that, and thats totally incorrect. People take this kinda stuff extremely seriously. Go to the police about it.

Should I do it without consulting with her first... I mean she might try and talk me out of it cause as I said before she doesn't want any trouble and he's told her things will be worse if she does tell... He told her "That she's going to hell and he's gonna be the one sending her there... soon" those are his exsact words.

Yeah, there's no way the cops are just going to say "What? Former boyfriend assaults ex-girlfriend? THAT'S CRAZY!" Stuff like this happens way too frequently, not uncommon at all. Tell the police, have them take the little jackhole down a notch.

You should tell her you're going to do it, Even if she tries to talk you out of calling the cops do it anyway, it's for the best.

The threat is probably not true. Do you think he'd really try and kill her? Either way, telling the police about the death threats is even more information that will send the little bugger to a cell somewhere.

Yeah, I'd say tell her, and then do it.
It can't hurt either way. If wasn't planning on doing it, then he learns not to ever threaten someone like that again.
If he was planning on doing it, then.. he'll find it a bit difficult if he's in a nice, 9x11 cell.

Go to the police and have the threatening little ******* put in his place - take photos of your girlfriend's bruises - you never know when they might be useful. Get it sorted before he starts thinking he can push her around and you end up splitting his head in two or something, and then you look bad.

Take the photos, go to the cops, screw whether she tries to stop you or not. It's better to have someone mad at you (possibly for life) than feel like you could have prevented someone's death or disfigurement.

Obviously he's capable of doing something like that, since he's already an abusive ***hole who deserves to die. (it's a good thing I'm not God)

Police action is the obvious alternative, and probably better considering the fact that you'd be going down to his level, from a point of view in resorting to assault or violence.

I'd tell her, but don't let her talk you out of it, if he took it that far he'll do it again. She'll understand your careing for her welfare, and if she doesn't you'll have your integrity.

That guy is, plain and simple, a ****ing *******. Show the bruises to the police, tell your story and, if you can convince her, your girlfriends. The police will care, as Darko said, this happens way to frequently. And, even if he isn't planning to keep that threat (although he has shown himself capable of it), he deserves much jail time simply for that threat, along with assault and battery he did the first time and emotional damages he has caused her.

Everyone is saying that you should report it, even without her consent, and while I agree, it is possible that more problems may come from that. She may get angery that you "violated her trust" and did something she didn't want you to do or the guy will find out and go after her more and maybe even you. What I would suggest is try your damnedest to get her to go to the police herself (because her word is A LOT more influential to the cops then yours) and also to get a restraining order. If that guy violates it, he's in jail.

Okay here's my plan... on Monday when I see her again (I can't talk to her this weekend) I'm gonna tell her that she has to go to the cops and tell them what happend... and I'll tell her if she's scared of going I'll go with her to file the complaint so she doesn't have to feel alone.
