cognitive speech pattern? This phrase keeps coming to mind over and over again, and I have no idea what it means (if anything). I don't know if I've ever even heard it before.

Cognition - The mental process of knowing, including aspects such as awareness, perception, reasoning, and judgment

I guess... being mentally aware of what you're saying?

Yeah that's what I figure, Slaw. Cognition is knowing what is what is going on around you and acting accordingly.

Cognitive speech would therefore include reasoning and logic. I guess you could say someone with brain damage or dementia maydoes not have a cognitive speech pattern as they may not be aware of what they are saying.
