Unreal Tournament

Sorry, just a quick question.

I used to be able to get 1600x1200 running in Unreal Tournament, but it will no longer allow me select anything higher than 12 80x960. That's a real shame and I would appreciate it if someone had any solutions (like how to edit an *.ini file or sometihng like that).

Thanks! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

no. I do however have a GeForce4 64 MB MX 440 video card. Which happens to support 1600x1200. So . . . [http://forums.massassi.net/html/confused.gif]

go to the UT directory on your computer. Go to the system directory. Open UnrealTournament.ini in notepad.

Edit these lines:
FullscreenViewportX=1280
FullscreenViewportY=1024

to
FullscreenViewportX=1600
FullscreenViewportY=1200

I recommend you make a backup of the file before you do it, so you don't lose your settings if it messes up. If it does mess up or something seriously goes wrong with it, just delete the file. UT will remake it with default settings on restart. You may want to do this anyway if editing the .ini simply doesn't work or causes problems.

Unless you have one hell of a CPU and a buttload of RAM, I wouldnt even try running it at such a high res with that card.

The original UT? I beg to differ.

Oh, and my system could do UT2004 pretty darn well with max settings at that res, and my system isn't top of the line. But that's beside the point.

Thanks a bunch Matty, it works! And Spork, if you meant the original UT (as in 1999) I have no prob whatsoever. I can run the game with everything to the absolute max and rarely expreience framerate issues, even with big maps and 16 bots. I'd probably turn it down for MultiPlayer though. My specs are:

700 Mghz CPU
384 MBs of Ram
Windows 98 (Dell Dimension XPS, '99 series)
The aforementioned Video Card which I replaced my old broken one with about 8 months ago.

unreal tournament (as well as most games using the old unreal engine) hates me computer...

doesn't run anywhere near as well as it should

of course unreal and deus ex are worse... slideshow in D3D, occasional freezing in software mode (not that much in unreal but it's a pain in dx) and the opengl mode just crashes

It appears I have another problem (darn, not another one [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif] ): I tried downloading the patch off of unrealtournament.com in the odwloads section which makes your mouse force feedback. I have a logitech iFeel optical mouse, which appaerently is the exact model this was designed for. But it doesn;t work. I tried reinstalling some of my mouse drivers, but when I look at them the iFeel part is there, but it's impossilbe to select it. You know, it's all greyed out and you can't select anything with the mouse. Any ideas anyone?

It's just sad that UT2004 in Suse Linux 9.0 will only run at 800x640 while in Windows XP it'll run at 1024x768.

Probably a setting in the config file, I just don't feel like messing with it.

DDRSDRAM- run:
Code:

Make sure that you set the refresh rate correctly as well as the resolution modes correctly. You should be able to play anything at any resolution no problem.
