I've never been there myself, but unless you plan to learn french, if you want to avoid those people you've mentioned earlier, I'd reccomend settling somewhere near the montreal area. That's where you'll find the most anglophones. It's also very pretty, you can trust me of this one

that go's like a C, and that was 45 minutes ago... we now have another ft of snow. Good sleding hill but if you miss you fly off the end of the driveway through a few young trees into the bushes down a 6 ft drop almost strait down into the road then across there into more bushes all the way down the hill :P. I did that once on a disk sled... not fun at all.
