A vent story... (not for hte faint of heart)

Well, my roomate and I, on friday, were sitting around our room around 2ish last friday, when we heard this loud "CRASH" noise. I looked at him, he was on his computer, I was reading a book, and he was all "did you just hear that?" I think I said "Yeah, what the heck was that?" And I was all "Did it come from like your side or my side?" And he said "I thought it came from by your side." And we both kinda shrugged it off. We live in a dorm, we hear loud noises all the time. The people upstairs sometimes stamp their feet, you get used to it.

I go to work, come back, play some game and stuff and my suitemate from Korea comes inside and we start talking, I pop in a movie becuase I"m broed, then he says "did you hear what happened?" and he points up, and he does a mimic of someone getting chocked/hung, and I was all "no, what?" And I guess we were both tired and hte translation didn't come through, but I was like "no...he couldn't have meant that, it's not possible. This is a small school, I would have heard something about it..."
So I shrugged it off.
Went to work at 9:30 AM, went home (my house, nearby) afterwards, went to church in the evening with my family, and one of the prayer requests was for someone who took their life at my school. I was like "huh? It did happen? My suitemate DID say something about that" And my family is looking at me like "WHAT!?" and my friend nearby was all "dude, you gotta talk to more people at school, hwo could you NOT know?"

So I came back to school the next evening, I went through a full day of school, prepped for a huge Calc 2 test, and took it on Tuesday. Then My roomate comes in last night (tuesday night) and tells me "I was talking to our Resident ASsistant, and she was asking "how are you holding up?" And I was like "umm, I'm fine, why" and she basicalyl said that the person was like...right above us."

I was all "you're kidding me...I didn't see any police or anything" And he didn't either.

Well it turns out that the noise we heard that day, which we both THINK was the same day, happened around the same time (2-3 hours) before this person was found. And it turns out that she was found around the same time we both went to work Friday late afternoon.

Needless to say, her room is now locked, (the girl who was above us) and I for one, am very, very freaked out about sleeping in this dorm room right now, heh. It's a little nerving. Apparently she was found in teh closet right under "MY" closet...supposedly (rumored, from my korean roomate who knows the guy/girl who found the girl)

Still...this is freaking me out, I just figured this out last night.
My roomate knows the girl's brother from High SChool.

Crazy stuff, I kinda needed to vent that out, and I'd also ask that you guys pray for the family and everyone who knows her...and if you find time for me too, to sleep well :\. Anyways, that's the story.

Hm, seems to me like this would be a relief, since you're now not due for another one of these for a while. I mean, there's sure as hell nothing to be worried about.

Way to be heartless, might as well congratulate him while you're at it y'know?

Thoughts sent out to her family and whatnot. Death's never a good thing... this whole story makes me sad actually =/

QFT. If only we could tell them that before they took the plunge into darknes... :(

I am truly sorry to hear the news. You always hear about these things, but we never really pay much notice - until it happens, close to us, in this case, right upstairs. It really takes you aback.

I feel so sorry for the girl's family and friends. They are in my thoughts and prayers. :(

Sorry, I just don't understand the mentality. What is so creepy about it? Why are you so superstitious? Call me heartless all you want, it doesn't change the fact that NOTHING will change as a result of what happened, at least unless she was Veger's future wife or something. So another person died.. at least it wasn't unintentional, eh?

So you're saying that if a person died in a room right over your head, you wouldn't be at least SLIGHTLY creeped out?

...could be worse. Not to sound mean or anything... actually there's no way to say this except very bluntly and I know I'll still be flamed... A girl at my school shot herself in her dorm. In the event of a suicide I would hope they would have enough decency not to leave a big mess.

This may just be me, but if I was going to do it I would find the most expensive carpeting I could find and make it as messy as possible. I mean, after all, if you're committing suicide, you're basically saying, "**** you, world." What better way to show your sentiment than to leave as big a mess as possible when you go?

Well...yeah.

Plus I would have had all day yesterday in the dorm room by myself if I hadn't picked up nd left for home for the day, and I didn't really want to spend the day thinking about it.

I agree with the "could be worse" point, but since no-one I know or knew has tried anything like this...

I guess it's more shock.

Wow, I'm glad you know all her problems as it could not have possibly been something in her life she can't change. You know, those things -do- happen.

What a close-minded and completely pointless comment.

Wow, I'm glad you know that your mindset is the only one anyone could possibly have. You know some peopel -do- think nothing's worth dying for.

What a close-minded and completely pointless comment.

Amen. Just because you can't change the past doesn't mean you can't change the future.

Some people should think about actually caring about others for once in their life instead of just shrugging things off until you die and have nothing to show for your life. And who in their right mind is going to think about the people who clean up their own *mess*? There are bigger things at stake than a stained carpet, if you are someone with any scruples at all. And if someone died in the room above me, I would be freaked out, too. A death is not a thing to be taken lightly. I hope everyone feels the same. There are some things that get the mind thinking and you can't stop going over scenarios and you can't help being affected in some way.

What about "caring for someone" constitutes being able to show for something in your life? Caring for someone ranks somewhere in between being a warm body and getting a job at McDonald's.

It's situations like this that make me glad that I screen everybody that I associate with. I'm sorta with Freelancer on this. It's not going to cause anything scary or new to happen. If I don't know a person, whether they're near me when they die or not, I'm not going to be bothered by it. *shrug* I'd say it's desensitization, and I'd also say it's a good thing. Deal with it.

Maybe I'm stupid or you were beating around the bush too much, but I didn't quite catch HOW the girl died, just that she commited suicide. None the less, disturbing indeed.

I thought the same when I initially read it. It actually had to search through his post to find how she died.
