Just wanted to give a heads-up on what's going on over here. I promised everyone a new server and an open-source version of the Massassi2 back-end software sometime around the first of the year. I was planning on getting started with that in February, but things are looking to be pushed into March. Here's the deal:
I put an offer in on a house in January and since then it's been a literal flood of paperwork. They accepted the offer and getting everything together has proven to be a real pain - since I'm considered "self-employed" by the government, I am responsible for paying my own taxes, plus self-employment tax (2x the amount "normal" people pay). On the plus side I am also able to claim many of my related expenses as business expenses. So I get a lot more freedom and pay quite a bit more in taxes, but it's a huge pain because I have to pay a damn accountant to do up all the paperwork. Luckily I had saved all my receipts for 2004 so I got quite a few write-offs.
Anyway, the house is closing on Tuesday (at that point I have to have about $2500 for the freaking "closing costs" which is altogether BOGUS). That cost in addition to the huge amount I owe on taxes for 2004 plus new applicances and carpet in th enew house has left me strapped for cash. Not in a way that leaves me homeless or starving or anything, just short enough that I don't have the dough to be dropping $200 on a dedicated server right away.
So the plan is towards the beginning of March to buy the new server and start moving stuff over. Once things are moved over to the new server I will install a CVS repository there and give qualified individuals write-access to it.
Thanks for your patience, don't worry, Massassi will move forward. Maybe at the pace of a snail but we do try
