Virtual lego game using the torque engine. Early version, but very playable, best part is that you can play with other people.

Anyone wanna get together and try building something? I've only played for a few minutes thus far, seemed pretty neat.

LOL, I love the screenie where some guys like, "Thanks *******s, it took me 5 minutes to build that thing!", of course implying that you get to wreck other peoples' stuff, also implying that the potential for griefers is astronomical.

It installs and runs under stock Wine, although it runs quite slowly on this system...probably because my opengl is busted... :o
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

right now, it's just basic lego blocks. No slants or wheels or anything...but building buildings is fun...a bit tedious.
I just had a huge glass tower then the server went down, was lame. I think I've actually had my fill for the night lol

and yeah, people can come trash your stuff...so playing with people you know is pretty important

I was playing with "batman" earlier on a stress test server. Managed to make a castle with some help, and then a robot. He was doing this thing where he would transform me into a 50x bigger lego dude, was pretty fun having a bunch of little lego dudes shooting arrows at you.

I saw this on TSS last night (which has really gone downhill), and they talked about how anyone can join your server and just start hammering/destroying your creations. Can you boot them, but not ban them or something?

It doesn't work for me. Doesn't say anything, but at the end of the console.txt file it says something like

   Accelerated OpenGL display device not detected.
   Accelerated D3D device not detected.
   Voodoo 2 display device not detected.

"OpenGL" display device not found!
"OpenGL" display device not found!
"D3D" display device not found!
"Voodoo2" display device not found!

Do other games like Jedi Outcast or something work okay? Sounds like you might need new drivers.

Anyway, as a playing around program, its pretty neat, but there is a full-fledged lego CAD program out. I think it was called mlCAD.

It looks fun, but most of the buildings so far are pretty square... and boring. Is it possible to create some slightly more innovative designs?

Some people got together and tried to make Helms Deep or whatever. It's still pretty basic, overall. It'll get better eventually, but there's only one guy working on it.

The main draw for me is working with other people to build something. Something like a Massassi temple would be possible to build...

I'm up for it, if you guys are on the server when I cna be.

I made a REALLY awesome glass building, it was huge, too, and it had little block furniture, ect. It was fun to make.

It reminds me of Active Worlds. It's a similar concept (build stuff with other people). It's much more flexible, but it's not free.

I cannot really believe I just spent over an hour playing that...but it was alot of fun.

You guys are so anally retentive. When I pasted the screenie of the house into paint I saw the non-red square and actually considered taking a new shot after painting over it because I knew someone would comment on it. But I thought to myself "don't be ridiculous Maeve, nobody will comment, it's not that big a deal..." So I left it.
