... Lego
... Legoes?

NO. It HAS to be lego.

I'm going to play with my LEGO. Lego is the company, you're going to play with all your products from them, their "Lego". Check the official website, it's said as "lego" in plural.

'Legos' doesn't make any sense at all.

'Lego' is a contraction of the Danish leg godt 'play good'. The name of the company is Lego, the name of the product is Lego. The individual pieces are not 'legos'; they're bricks, or pieces. Lego bricks, if you want.

Yep. Definatly Lego since you cant have "A lego" only "A lego brick" or "a lego set".

And 'legos = lego + bricks' doesn't count as viable contraction?

I thought this was going to be a paper vs. plastic grocery bag thread.

Consider:
Macintosh cannot be plural. But in reference to Macs (as in computers from the Macintosh company) is acceptable (and quite common). Same thing goes here. And it's quite common when a company produces only one product, and it the same as the company. If the company produces other products, it's no longer the same situation, because the name becomes ambiguous. We wouldn't say "Microsofts," now would we? Because first, they don't name products after themselves, and second, they produce more than one type of software.

It doesn't matter what language the word originated in. If we were talking about a Japanese product, we wouldn't use Japanese grammar rules, now would we? Especially when we don't know them.

LEGO officially discourages the use of 'legos'

Various Lego catalogues contain this disclaimer:
Quote:
The word LEGO® is a brand name and is very special to all of us in the LEGO Group Companies. We would sincerely like your help in keeping it special. Please always refer to our bricks as 'LEGO Bricks or Toys' and not 'LEGOS.' By doing so, you will be helping to protect and preserve a brand of which we are very proud and that stands for quality the world over. Thank you! Susan Williams, Consumer Services.

That is because similar toys produced by Lego-wannabe companies are all too often referred to as Legos, when in fact they are not, and are often inferior in quality.

It is Lego, you play with Lego, they are Lego kits, sets, bricks, blocks, etc.

Not Legos, not Legoes. Anyone who thinks so is wrong.

Legos. I don't really care if it's "correct" or not, it's what I've said all my life, and what I'll continue to say.

Just think of all those heathen little children out there saying they're going to play with their legos. Oh the humanity!

Neither of those options are valid. Lego is the name of the company. Their product is building blocks. But if you were going to get technical you could say "I'm going to play with my Lego building blocks". So, the closest choice is Lego, but that's still not 100% right.

Yeah...

Since lego is the company name, saying Legos would imply more than one company called Lego.
