Confessions of a fanboy: Brandon Boyd

[Note: This will not go to the music discussion forum because it's about the person: His music is a quality, not the reason for this post]

I am obsessed with Brandon Boyd. VH1 Hits played Incubus videos this morning, all of them. I can honestly say that Brandon Boyd is one of the most amazing human beings alive.

He is beautiful. I really wouldn't often call a man beautiful, but he just is. He's got a very normal and natural look to himself, but the way he carries himself is almost artistic. I don't know, maybe I'm crazy, but it's the way he holds the mic that's just simply mesmerizing.

His voice is amazing too. He can do almost anything, I think. each and every incubus CD, he and the band have a new style and sound. Pop, punk, jazz, funk, whatever.

Lastly: He's a true artist in his writing. When I hear or read incubus lyrics, I just don't understand why people waste their time with petty music like "American Idiot" or kids who think they're powerful by moshing around. Boyd's poetic writing, and simplistic but so realistically thought out thinking is simply unmatched in the teenage angst department. It DEFINES what teens, and alternativelly thinking people represent. Megalomaniac itself was a far greater statement and didn't need to bluntly say everything out for it to make sense. Much is inferred, and more is given to artistic ideas.

OK, to make this legitimate: Post your obsession.

Kevin Smith. Not only can he create compelling characters that you actually want to watch , he can write realistic dialogue and still manage to make it hilarious.

Jean-Michel Jarre
Hm, have been listening to his music after seeing a concert of his when 3 years old. Through time, I've listened at many better artists and songs, but I still adore the guy. And most of his music. And the concerts. Oh la la. Also has been handy when discovering true sides of some people.

Obsession?

Radiohead. Anyone who has read my posts on the Music Forum knows this already. I won't get into detail why, I'll just leave it at that.

Probably because he's an evil hippy...
No but really, my friend is so obsessed he got some tibetan writing and the Fish tattoo that brandon did, even though he has no clue about what they mean. Every time someone asks him what his tibetan prayer tattoo says, he makes up something different. It's sad :(

Jim Morrison for a while
I've also dabbled in Val Kilmer and George Harrison obsessions as well. Mostly Jim morrison though, his style, way of talking, walking, voice, hair, I wanted to be him. Then i realized that not only would I be a joke of a person myself, but I could never go my own musical direction copying off someone else, or else it would be more of the same. Then I just cut off all my hair, dress differently too(but also because the things that looked good with long hair, no longer go as well as they did, now that I have short hair)

This is kinda odd. As A Crow Left of the Murder... finished playing on my diskman, I stumble across this thread. I would have to agree though, I'm not really obsessed with him, nut I like the music far more than I probably should.

Obsessions are bad.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.
