The Great North Run

WOOOOOOO!!

I got a place on the Great North Run, which is Britain's biggest half marathon! I'll be running for Diabetes UK with my girlfriend Izzy, and likely her housemate Izz, and Engineers Lizzy and Tracy.

And I realise that's an improbable amount of z's in a single list of names. Not forgetting there's one in my surname too :p

But yeah, it's my first attempt, and were aiming for a time of less than two hours. I reckon it'll be tough, and I wont be dissapointed if I don't make it (it IS my first half marathon) - but Izzy did it last year in 2:20, and I can keep up with her now. We've got till September to get fitter!

WOOOOOWOOOOOOOOOOO!!

(Yeah, so really, I do excercise!!)

Half marathon huh? Yeah, I generally stick with 5Ks... 13 miles for a half and 26 miles for a full marathon are a little ridiculous in my book. Course, this is coming from someone who ran mid-distance (800m) while in highschool. More power to you though.

I do three and a half miles every week with Izzy on a thursday afternoon - it's the route she used to train for the last one: We're planning on lengthening the route simply because we're starting to find it too easy! Bring it on!

I reckon we'll be ok :)

For Diabetes UK and in September? Woo! Run for me! :D (born in September and diabetic).

Nah, I'm just kidding. Good for you, though. I'll be cheering you guys on :)

Good luck, that's going to be difficult.

One of my friends wants to run an ironman a few years from now, and he's already starting to train. I did the swimming portion with him the other week and it was pretty brutal. Long way to go :P
