I play EQ2, it's really quite good IMO. For free, you can't go wrong.

Oh my god. Only the Isle of Refuge? Forget it. Worthless. Didn't read that part earlier.

No, it's for any Fileplanet member. Not just for paying subscribers.

Alright, I was a serious EQ junkie, and this game has been catching my eye for a bit.
But, im still going to play and love WoW, no matter what.

Also, Freelancer,

You need this game, and it needs you :)

I bought EQ2 and the performance even on my system is terrible. The loading times/zoning *sucks* - seriously every 3 or 4 streets in town and it loads loads loads. It's hard to feel like it's a consistent environment with that much loading going on. :(

On the upside, the combat was fun and the spell effects were really cool.

Seriously, you people know nothing about EQ2, so spare us your WoW fanboyism, please.

Why do you buy EQ2? They're giving away like assloads of copies...everywhere. Seriously, watch TechTV (yes, I know, I don't like them much any more either) and half the time they give away 3 or 4 copies a day to anyone who calls in.

I really see no reason to even sell the damn game :p

I had 2 friends who bought it and thought it was a amazing game, then after about a month they completely quit. After Sony started charging money to be able to explore high levels of certain caves etc. Pretty lame.

Well, if the game is anything like SWG, forget it. I've been playing WoW for almost 3 months and I have no plans to change that :)

I played EQ2. Then I went back to WoW.

I'm not even going to bother with this trial, but if you were considering buying EQ2 here's your chance to see if you enjoy the basics of the game, I guess.

The one thing EQ2 has over WoW is the awesome character creation screen. Not as good as City of Heroes, which in turn is not as good as Second Life, but EQ2's character creation is still excellent. WoW really pales in comparison.

I agree with that, WoW really could use some more character customization, because as it stands it's rather basic. :(

In my opinion, though, EQ2's characters look terrible and not even the customization can save them.

Yes, I couldn't quite put my finger on what exactly it was, but EQ2's people all look..... weird. There's something not quite right about them, all of them. Perhaps the lighting. I think they're all too dull a colours, or something.

It's also a shame that they didn't do anything more radical with the races. They just races look too similar. You can make half elves that look exactly like humans or barbarians. And ogres are just big fat ugly humans.

The Iksar are excellent. Best race ever in any game. Oh, and EQ2's graphics are far superior to WoW in all respects. Just thought I'd pass that along.

Well they are superior technically, but visually I think EQ2 still looks... odd. It tries to look 'realistic', and fails, and ends up just looking.. odd.
I think Blizzard went totally in the right direction with the artwork, making it colourful and cartoony, making the most out of a low pixel count. I'm very glad that WoW didn't try to bump up the graphics significantly, the loading times are excellent as they are.

/pizza -large -pepperoni -olives -deepdish

I was a "cat person" on Furcadia too...It was the only one that looked decent. The dogs had those stupid ponytails. Yuck.

in some of the other dreams there were custom avatars that didn't make your animal people look... worse than they already are.

Don't get me started on those rats though. Seriously.

And the world was called...Vinca? Yeah, I think that was it. And you would click on the letters to go to places, and you could pick up pillows and carry them around...Oh! And there was also an "M-rated" section called the Furn. My, how pathetic that was. It totally revovled around "cyber-sex".
