Rediscovered movies!

The other night, I was watching TBS and they were playing Rocky IV. I realized that I had never seen the first Rocky movie.

I went to blockbuster, and I must say, its an incredible movie. I wish I had seen it sooner. Wonderfully crafted, and the way that Rocky is characterized is just wonderful. There is such care in characterizing Rocky that simply doesn't exist in.. Rocky IV.

Anyway, who else has discovered some pre-90s movies? I personally will be watching The Godfather today....

Seven Samurai. I rented it once when my firends and I went on a movie watching spree, and we tried to watched at it 10 in the moring after very little sleep, so we gave up about a half hour later. Many months later, I was snowed in, so I watched it. It was amazing. Everything about that that moive is just fantatsic, the acting, story, characters, the battles. What was really cool is that I stopped noticing that it was subtitled about half-way through, I was that into it.

The Great Escape with Steve McQueen and Richard Attenborough. Now if that's not classic, I don't know what is.

"The Guns of Navarone", and it's sequel "Force 10 from Navarone".

I don't think it's "Rediscovered" if you've never seen it before.

A movie I discovered not too long ago is Clerks. I rented it when the new DVD came out, then I bought it, a few months later, with birthday money. Now it's my favorite Kevin Smith movie. Probably because I relate to Dante and Randal a lot more than any of his other characters.

The Flight of the Navigator, The Neverending Story, and Return to Oz are great little-known pre 80s movies.

Stalag 17. Simply one of the best WW2 movies ever made.

Neverending Story was before the 80s? So it's older than Star Wars? Well, now I have a higher appreciations for its special effects.

Hmm, it was probably actually in the 80s. But I took this to mean 80s or before.

The Apartment.
Patton.
The Wind and the Lion.
The Sugarland Express. (Spielberg's first silver screen movie. It's not as corny as the title sounds; it's really pretty artsy.)

HELL. YES.

We have it, and the sequel on DVD. The sequel is good, but the first one is far better.

I'm pretty sure that it was 1984. In fact, I'd be willing to bet money. Great movie as well, I actually cried when Atreyu's horse got killed by the quick sand. Yeah. I'm hopeless. :(

Predator 2.

I had seen the original Predator, but I never saw the sequel. So I got P2 via Netflix. Peace.
