Wow.

The only question now is why.

Never heard of him.

That's why you read the link. And if you've never heard of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas...you've got bigger issues ;)

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas has to be my favourite movie ever, its the only movie I can somehow watch back to back multiple tmes.

I did. And only a few things even vaguely rang any bells.

"So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark---the place where the wave finally broke and rolled back."

It's a shame he had to go. It also seems a bit odd that he'd actually shoot himself, unless he were drunk. I just wish he didn't have to help build the gawd aweful journalism style he used.

A mate of mine just texted me the news. This does indeed suck. He survives years of drug abuse only to take his own life in the end.

Still, anybody who's read Kingdom of Fear will probably know that he doesn't regard the last few years in the fondest light. Combine that with his love for firearms, is it a surprise? Is it better for Hunter to go out like this? Or should he have let his life decay into the dull retirement that consumes the rest of us?

Never heard of him, or any of the books (?) he wrote.

But still he is missed.

I've been meaning to read some of his works, I guess this is the perfect excuse.

Because we all know that gun enthusiasts shoot themselves in the head on a regular basis.

I would love to read his last diary entry.

That's not really what I meant. I just couldn't imagine him growing old and dying of illness or something.
