"A reasonable man adapts to his environment, while an unreasonable man tries to adapt his environment to him. Therefore, all progress is made by unreasonable men."

What we call progress is the exchange of one nuisance for another nuisance.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

...and moaning about the changes, reminscing about whatever was lost, and reverting back to the original state.

There is no such thing as progress without struggle, and from my experiences, there is no laughter involved.

Progress is the steps taken to move forth into the future. If we were to do the opposite we would change back into the original state we were in, therefore stopping the evolution of man, technology, and life as we know it. We would become Thor and Urgg, banging each other with clubs, and using grunts to communicate.
dream of breezes through broken trees, and whisper back with equality in thought.

progress (n)
Quote:
1. Movement, as toward a goal; advance.
2. Development or growth: students who show progress.
3. Steady improvement, as of a society or civilization: a believer in human progress. See Synonyms at development.
4. A ceremonial journey made by a sovereign through his or her realm.

intr.v. pro·gress pro·gressed, pro·gress·ing, pro·gress·es

1. To advance; proceed: Work on the new building progressed at a rapid rate.
2. To advance toward a higher or better stage; improve steadily: as medical technology progresses
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

My theory on this:

1. Laughter is an action, an expression of joy. It cannot have victory over anything.

2. A dogma is something held as an established opinion or belief: a philosophical tenet. You cannot have victory over dogmas, you can only exchange one dogma for another.

3. Technological progress means increasing our control over our surroundings by means of our inventions. Societal progress means improving the comfort and standard of living for humankind. Philosophical progress means developing a more accurate view of the universe and existence, exchanging faulty dogmas for accurate ones.

In conclusion, I am not entirely certain what that quote means. It seems to be some sort of garbled attack on religion or possibly philosophy, but it may also be some sort of extremely subtle satire, in which case, I have missed the point entirely.
