lol. well I did mention this was the first time i've ever given a complete stranger my number or rather had the urge too. Norm. I see a cute guy but if I dont know him, then that's that. If I know him then it's a diff. story. but this guy was just so cute, I couldnt resist. my sis and mom were so shocked when I told them hehe they were like "that's really unlike you" I was like "I know! it's just he was so cute! lol" and the accent was just adorable. I mean he seemed like a decent guy, even sounded a little nervous on the message he had left on my cell. which reminds me I have to call just once more to give him my email address and well hope we keep in touch so if he ever comes back...lol

Also, you complain about all these stupid people not understanding what a phone is for, with all their special features and such...maybe you need to keep with the times. Computers weren't "for" playing games on, either. Didn't the internet start as a military system? Certainly it's not for the average citizen to communicate with! Oh no! Cell phones have become MORE than just phones, so why should people only use them AS phones?

Woah... easy there... just giving a piece of advice from experience...

Just giving out numbers to a complete stranger before you even get to know them is something that you normally shouldn't do.

I don't keep up with times!!!???? I'm 19 for your information and I'm an IST student! Who says I don't keep up with the times. You better check other people's comments before you start accusing me of not knowing the other uses for cell phones.

I also agree, to really like someone is take everything about them. You need to get to know a person before you start a relationship. Looks are not everything. They really aren't. To me I believe I care more about a person inside then I would ever on the outside, because yeah sure you'll find them attractive, but he could be a jerk. you never know.

But the attractiveness is usually what first catches the eye. You can't look at someone and gather what they're like inside - well usually...unless your an awesome judge of character and can just feel if the person is good or not.

And peacocks also flair their feathers and wave their asses around when threatened. Don't relate us to a bird to prove a point. Birds mate to shoot out babies, and mate with only the best looking because they want their children to have good looks and strength so they'll survive. Humans, however, score *** on looks because they like to have sex. Your arguments are moot.
Um, humans mate to shoot out babies and mate with only the best looking because they want their children to have good looks and strength too. Humans may have the technology to allow those to live that normally wouldn’t, but that doesn’t mean our instincts are gone. When humans try to find someone to have just casual sex with, they are indeed following the drive to continue their genetic line, preferably with someone with seemingly good genetics themselves. Pleasure just adds incentive to do it.

LMAO! haha omg this is killing me, this thread turned into "breeding" and the "survival of our genetic line"

haha, I just gave him my number. I did it cuz I thought he was cute. I didnt say I wanted to have the guys babies. And it was a shock for me to do it, because i'm norm. the kinda girl that has to get to know someone before I do that, but meh he looked cute and seemed sweet so I took a chance, and he called, although I missed the call.

I didnt give him my number to make sure to "breed" with him to "ensure the survival of my genetic code" He just fit my type of guy I like, not skinny, not too big. He maybe had a little bit of a gut but nothing bad (I dont like guys who look perfect it's jsut bleh) anyways and he had med. hair, prob. a little darker then chest nut. He had blue eyes and a great smile and he had braces. He just seemed really sincere and adorable and really cute, so I took a chance. Does that mean the thought of erm "breeding" didnt come to mind. Of course it did, but I'm the type of girl that reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy has to get to know a guy before that is considered, and I have yet to take it to that pt. with anyone. So really it was simply innocent. I found him cute I wanted to hang out, yes I woulda kissed him or whatever but I mean it just was what it was. nothing more, nothing less lol
2005-02-25, 9:37 PM #50
You gave him your phone number (and swooned over him), because you recognized him as a potential mate. That's what attraction is. It's the first part in a line that leads to breeding, should everything else work out alright.

haha oh i'm sorry i'm getting a kick out of this. so then, although I was unaware of it, you are saying my animalistic instincts were taking over? hahaha

ooo lordy, i'm getting in a good laugh cuz of this
2005-02-25, 9:43 PM #52
What do you think attraction is? If attraction were dictated by human logic than looks wouldn't matter at all and it would only be intelligence(possibly with a few other things) that mattered. But attraction is an animal instinct, and as such the first focus of attraction is based on looks(provided you don't know the person before hand).

Where do you think this attraction would have eventually led? You talk a little, then maybe a few dates and you two click. His other qualities such as humor and intelligence intensify the attraction. That attraction turns into love. That love leads to having children if possible. I'm not saying that when you are attracted to someone, it instantly means you want to have children with them right there. It means that they are a candidate if things work out.

i'm never going to be able to talk to a guy again lmao

If I find a guy cute now and go to talk to him i'm going to burst into laughter. all that's going to be stuck in my head is you all going "it's animalistic you want to breed..."
2005-02-25, 9:51 PM #54
What's wrong with it being animalistic? Anyway, like I said, it means he's a candidate. Not that you want to hop on him ASAP(in some cases like one night stands this can be the case though). You've seen what he is like phsyically, so now you want to discover what he is like mentally, emotionally, etc to make sure he fits the bill.

Ok well I'll agree on that pt. which is why I dont tend to give a guy my number until I know him. and then even after that I have to know him a while longer before I consider dating. From there on out, if it doesnt work o well, but if it does at least he passed initial screening.

This was just...well I just thought he was cute, I never intentionally thought "must breed" ooo yeah baby...that's some good genetic code...our genes would mix nicely lmao ooo no lol
2005-02-25, 9:55 PM #56
Well of course you didn't think that consciously. That would be using human logic, not instincts. Attraction is a sub-conscious mechanism.

sure, I mean I do that with every guy. I think everyone does that with everyone. I mean sometimes just getting to know someone does that. When I was younger I liked this one guy. When I first met him I didnt think he was cute at all. He lived in my neighborhood, we rode the same bus, and his older bro, knew my older sis. Well with time I got to know him. He was about 6'1 hazel eyes, glasses, braces, and light brown sandy hair. Now I got to know him and I loved his smile, I loved his personality, and I started crushing on him so bad. He was two grades above me, so when he got into HS and I was still in Jr. High, he got onto the football team and would always invite me to come see his games. (Him and Angel that is) anywho, he got older, his braces came off, he got contacts, and he was still this sweet funny guy. Who knew I liked him and was just so sweet to me. Polite just yeah. But I mean first time I saw him, my first thought was pfft. he's nothing special, and thenhe became my first puppy love, and alas he moved *sniffles*

anyways, in that case attraction was not teh first thing with him. but once I got to know him and I feel for his personality he became the cutest guy in the school in my eyes. Of course after I started liking him this hussy Toni (girl) that he used to like started trying to get his attention, but by then he'd moved on and he was starting to like me yeaaa boy (ok derailing thread) anyways pt. is, attraction (lookswise that is) isnt always the main factor

alright i'll give that to u :p I agree

Glad to see we are in agreement. :)

He didn't fit the physical part when you met him, so you passed on him intially and decided to be around him in other capacities(friend). However, as time went on your sub-conscious noticed how well he fit the other criteria it has for potential partners. This sparked attraction and as he scored more points in other areas, the physical looks part began to be less important.

Think of it this way. You are taking a class and there are a series tests. You bomb the first one. However, you do reasonably well in the class and the bombing on the first test slowly begins to impact your grade in the class less.

Also, there is the issue of what women find desirable in a partner being different than what a man finds desirable in a partner affecting this, but that is a discussion for another time.

oh no mister, you arent getting off that easily. Now you've peaked my interest. I think we need to turn that into a discussion right now. From this pt. on it's a new thread.

So what are the differences between what women find desirable in a partner to what men find diserable in a partner?

Shed some light, you have me intrigued

Oh, derailing your own thread huh? :p

Anyway, I'll have to go into it some time tomarrow because right now I'm not sure how long it would be to make it understandable and I need to get to bed. You'll have to wait. Muhahaha!

Braces are sexy! :D

I think we do the basic animal-breeding instinct thing (ah...technical terms...can tell it's getting late :P)

Men generally go for youth, health and beauty
Women generally go for maturity, wealth, and um..there was a third thing but I'm too tired...probably health

of course I then I think to a certain extent we inhibit these by using our human logic and whatnot...yeah...now I sleep >_<;;

Then never take a Human or Animal Behavioral science course in college. It may include words like "attraction", "mating", or even "sexual intercourse". God forbid proper and mature terminology is used.

When 30 posts in a row are you and Boricua, then you need to finda chatroom. They're not talking about naughty words, they're talking about the fact that you two are defeating the purpose of a forum.

What's wrong with open discussions and the natural flow of those discussions? It's not like the conversation could be only us two exclusively. It's not our fault if no one else has any immediate comments on the subject.

Thank you, I agree.

Now on that note. what do you all think is the difference for what men look for and what women look for?
