Anyone noticed the Marine ads at GameFAQs?

For the past two days, there have been Marine ads at GameFAQs. What's up the Marines advertising at a gaming site? Furthermore if you notice, the polls were related to military stuff like "How well do you corporate with others" and "How fit are you."

Yeah i saw that too. My brother got an email from them telling him about how he needed the marines to go to college and how his life wasnt going where he wanted it to. Funny thing is he is in college and they emailed his U of M email adress to send him that ad.

I guess my comp is blocking them, cause I dont see any.

Not that it would be worth their effort to get me fit enough to be in the marines -- by the time they accomplish that, we'd have total world peace ;)
May the mass times acceleration be with you.

That is probably because those polls are made/sponsored by the Marines. I wonder how much extra they are paying for that space. And I would think they are now targetting video gamers because they hope to get the FPS players to join since I would think they would have more practice with hand-eye coordination. Just a hunch.

Moving a mouse != shooting a gun

How a gun behaves and sounds in a game != how a gu behaves and sounds in real life.

They probably want computer dorks for computer stuff.

You ever heard of a little something called America's Army? The Army blatantly admits it's a recruiting tool, and they keep track of peoples' stats for that very purpose. Why a bunch of ads would bother you more than this I do not know.

I dunno, there's a pretty large percentage of military folk here at Massassi, considering. Targeting the gamer population may not be such a bad idea.

Plus, today's modern super-geeks are strong, fit, and good-looking, as well as being frighteningly intelligent to boot. A far cry from the awkward nerd epitomized by old college movies. What military wouldn't want people like that?

There's some same coming out soon that the Marne Corps sponsored or something like that. The game is a based off a training tool the Marines use to train oficers or something along those lines. Might have something to do with that.

There's also the 60th anniversary of Iwo Jima there on the left of the page. That part's cool by me.

Do we know the same group of people? I sure don't know many computer geeks that are like that.

The US military is going to need to recruit gamers pretty soon.

Simple fact of the matter is, most of the tanks/planes/soldiers in 30 years are going to be controlled remotely. Most of the equipment is pretty obtuse and unwieldy now, but there were rumors that the military was talking to Sony about licensing a Dual Shock 2-derivative for the purpose.

I'm pretty good at Doom. Should I join the marines?

I always thought my military training has helped me play OFP better.

Oh, was the idea of this thread the other way around?

I guess I'll have a shot at being an air force pilot then (Ace Combat). At least the rumor doesn't involve using the original, cumbersome X-Box controller.

I had the Marines do that to me too. :( Now the Navy is doing it. The guy actually told me college was a waste of my time and that I would be better suited being in the Navy. Oy...

Oh...and all those Marine ads are quite annoying. They're like the entire site o_O

The sad thing is there probably would be an arrow. In fact, we'd probably know where the enemy planes were even over the horizon.
