Solve my computer mystery

I see little need for this to go into the tech forum since the problem is... well... gone... Explaination follows.

This is... odd.

Around 12 25ish I go for a shower. I leave the computer running, I'm online, and the speakers are on.

Around 12 45ish I return. I'm now hearing an odd, quiet repetative noise. At first I thought it was something outside or one of my cats since they were both back here. Then I noticed it was comming from my speakers.

So I start to investigate. It sounded like a buzzing. A short buzz. Like a bee. I have a recording I'll link at the end, Goldwave + "What U Hear" = LOVE. So anyway, I check all of my running programs out. Nada. Nothing could be making that noise. I check the running processes. Nothing out of the ordinary. Odd... So I start praying it isn't a problem with my speakers, as I'm rather fond of having surround sound, and I don't have the cash to replace them. I take a trip under the desk to the back of the computer armed with a pair of headphones and check the outputs on my Audigy. Nothing from the center channel. Quite loud from the front channels. Softer from the rear channels. So it's not my speakers. Now I'm praying my soundcard isn't dying. Around this time, as I'm also trying to accomplish other tasks and that buzzing is becomming annoying, I kill the volume to my speakers. I don't turn them off, I just turn down the volume. 5 minutes later, I turn it back up with the intention of focusing on my problem now, only to find.... it's vanished. Gone. Nonexistant. Like it was never there. Only I KNOW it was there because I heard it and I have a recording.

So I ask you... just what in the HELL was I hearing?

The offending sound.
For the suspecious ones, nothing bad happens in there, it's just 30 seconds of the same really QUIET sound over and over again about every 3 to 4 seconds.

Could be a trojan. Maybe someone's messing with your head. The smart ones will hide themselves from the processes list, etc...

I know exactly what it was. A banner ad. I've seen the banner, and it made that noise. It's one of those "SHOOT THE FLY AND WIN AN IPOD" junk ones. And the fly is making that sound.

Nope. Rendering in Bryce kinda makes it so I can't do that. Eats my Ram alive.

A possibility.... I didn't see any ads where I was that would do that though...
