...was the best LEGO space unit. Mtron was cool, so were the ice dudes, but Blacktron > all.

I remember you used to be able to buy BUCKETS of legos.

Like, and they'd have cool parts in them and everything. No need to buy sets... just get a bucket AND LET YOUR IMAGINATION GO WILD.

Most of the cool parts were in sets, they had unique ones you could do cool **** with.

Cue eff tee.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

That's the truth. Blacktron stared the whole "cool space set" trend.

I miss old legos.

I still have all my old legos out in the garage.

I also have a lot of tyco bricks (lego clones that fit with real legos. Useful for filling up the gaps in stuff I was building when I was a kid.)

I think we had a thread like this a year or two ago, talking about how cool Blacktron was.

Not that another thread is bad. Blacktron was clearly superior to all Space sets before or after. That's just the way it is.

Now the unique parts are the sets.

From the sounds of things, Blacktron seems a bit before my time (I miss the leggo boxes though). I didn't get started until Space Police :)

Blacktron and Mtron rocked! I had loads of the sets, including the big 6 wheeled mtron thingy. That was cool.

blacktron was the set that included the neon yellow cockpit canopies, right?

I also liked ice planet.

Space Legos started to seriously go downhill after Spyrius came out and replaced Blacktron.

Also, the Futron Monorail set was the best Space Lego set ever. Period.

I always loved the spybots myself or whatever their name was. Space police was cool too. I remember as a kid obsessing over the Wild west and Aquanauts series though... they had knives and guns! shiny knives too!

Neighbor down the street from me has it.

I have a mini Blacktron set ontop of my monitor.

Nah, Blactron and Space Police coexisted. I think they were soem of the earliest space sets. Next to the 'futuron' sets, of course. Y'know, the red, blue, and yellow ones with the little emblem on the chest? That monorail rocked hardcore.

Blacktron>M-tron>Space Police>all

Those three could never be exceeded by any set that came after it. No way. In fact, through the course of refining the story of my novel over and over and over, there are some references to them. Fighter designs originally based off them.

The Ariel Intruder Starfighter developed from the Aerial Intruder from Blacktron.

The Magnetizer Cruiser (That giant one I modelled last year) developed from the M-tron Multicore Magnetizer

And the Rebel Hunter - well, it's just the Rebel Hunter :)

LEGO- such an inspiration

Ice Planet *****es!
A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.

A major source of objection to a free economy is precisely that it gives people what they want instead of what a particular group thinks they ought to want. Underlying most arguments against the free market is a lack of belief in freedom itself.

Hah, I forgot about those Futron guys. They were are quite cool, but Blacktron and Ice Planet had some of the coolest units. Mtrons were like the guys with the big ships that said like "get the **** out the way. now."
