Good sound/music and video editors?

I'm wondering what are some good programs for Windows for editing sound/music and video. I know of Garageband and iMovie for Mac but what are some good free or not programs for Windows?

Audacity is great for working with audio and best of all, it's free.

If you want to edit video, I've only worked with Premiere so it's the only program I can suggest. However, it is quite expensive. >.>

Audacity for audio. Don't know about video though.
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Premiere and After Effects would make a nice video editing packet. And an expensive one, too...

Premiere definately. Decimates all other products out there, even iMovie, by a long shot.
