I am new in this whole deal. I am really impressed with your work and I really would like to know how to even start a work of art such as yours. I really love creating things, I did somethings on paint but that is merely to help satisfie my appetite to create. Can anyone help me learn the JED and JK ways?

Oh, we have fresh meat. I suggest posting in the editing forum, as the people there... we will have much more fun away from the eyes of the public... *gets out his box of strange and scary looking powertools*

short answer, no.

Long answer, yes... with a but,

Get yourself Milkshape, learn to model.

Get yourself PaintShopPro/Adobe Photoshop, learn to texture.

Learn the tutorials of massassi.

Spend 4 years learning cog and static jkls and animations.

In summary, dont bother. By the time you're half good at JK editing, the game wont be played anymore

[i spent seven years perfecting my stuff, and for what? so less than 50 people ive never even met can spend an hour having fun on it?]

A program like GtKradiant is much easier to learn than JED. Visit the JO/JA editing forum for fun

I find it funny that JO and JA editing died before JK editing though.

Yes you may have spent 7 years learning the chore, but the question is do you love what you do. It's not how many people you can have play it, its the love of doing it that makes it worth the learning. Thats why I want to learn, even if nobody will view it in the future, I love creating not for the joy of showing others what I have accomplished (yes that is a thrill of it) but mostly for being proud of myself for my accomplishments.

But you won't be able to create anything worth showcasing, as it's a cheapened and popculture community where everyone on any other forum will go 'omg ur JA lvl r teh shizzle' and then move on, probably never even playing it. There are 3 levels I can think of that are played online with JA, and all 3 of them suck horribly. It's just that they've got themes that drive the kids wild.

Thats o.k. I have no problem with that, its just i need to do something creative before I really do burst. It probably would be for my own personal use and I probably wouldn't show them anyway because one confidence lacks in me. but anyway I'm willing to learn, even if no one ever see's it.

it didnt die. if you visited any other forum/webstite than massassi you would know that. or you're just ignoring the several other communities that still do quake3/JA/JO editing a lot.

I seriously think you should consider JED before GTK. Even though it's harder, and even though there's less of a community, you have more people here to give you personal assistance. Add me to MSN jEDIkIRBY007@hotmail.com or AIM xone009 and I'll help you with any JED questions you have. MS3D too, if you go that rout.

Not to mention, Halucid knows more than I do. Although, he occasionally PMs me with random questions, but nontheless, we can help you out easily.

It's indeed funny considering that neither of them have died yet.

It has on Massassi. And the Q3A community I frequent completely dried up with the onset of hl2 and d3.

What? You can make something worth showcasing with GtK. With an exception of a few, there are several serious editing forums that will make good opinions about your work...

I suggest GtK over JED. Brush-based editing is easier to use for your love of creating things than JED's outdated system.

if you're a her, you should certainley not edit jk.

It would break the law of physics and reality as we know it...

The documentation link is a great start. Search Elysiun for more advanced things. Also, Blender art tends to get noticed...in places like CGTalk.
