I know half of you would disagree with me, but I think they were both as funny as hell.. Especially the Mr. T cameo...

I think most people talk about hating them so much because it's the "in thing" to do.

What was the weird sequence in the new one a spoof of? It seemed familiar, but I couldn't quite place it.

I think it was a parody of "North by Northwest", a Hitchcock film from the '60s.

True, and its unfortunate. You have to give Groening some credit; its still funny and (mostly) original after over 15 years...

Well, I don't know about the other malcontents, but I just hate it because it no longer appeals to my sense of humour. It's great that there are still some people who get a kick out of it. I'll just mourn the loss of the show I once knew *sniff*

That sequence spoofs the opening credits from Catch Me If You Can.

You know what this forum needs? IMDB tags.

Easily the funniest moment in both.

"You've betrayed me for the last time!"
And then he takes out the scissors. COMEDY GOLD.

what would have been funny would be if they had a character that looked like tommy vercetti (GTA VC) make a short cameo when they were in miami beach.

I was expecting that, almost.

even without, It stil beat hell out of last weeks episode.

As for the Simpsons as a whole...I dunno...they're not what they were. How much new stuff can they do?

I thought the CMIYC spoof was great. I even think they used the original music from the movie. Of course, I'm probably the only person here who would care about that.

Ralph was definitely gold, though. That whole schoolbus sequence was pretty good, though. "Drive the bus off a cliff? Whoa! That'd solve all my problems!" Here, on Saturday nights, they show the Simpsons at 7:30 and this past Saturday, they showed "Weekend at Burnsies", which is the one where Homer uses medicinal marijuana. Best. Episode. Ever! No joke.

"Marge! I just realized I'm the 'ow' in the word...'nowwww'"
"Wait Homer, I'm getting a call on the other line..."
"Hey, it's me. Man, I've got Marge on the phone and she is bumming me out!"

"WE HAVE A KITCHEN?!"

"Man, that saxophone would make a great pipe."

oh definitely.

That old 60s song that plays "Incense and peppermints" when homer goes home carrying the bag of reefer had me laughing on the floor.

The medicinal marijuana episode is probably my equal favourite, along with the New York episode, the one where Homer gets accused of sexual harrasment, and the celebrity episode with Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin.

I don't think they are going to play that one for a LONG time yet. It's still too soon after 9-11.

Heh, they played it a month or so ago down here (we have Simpsons every night at 6, and also an hour between 7.30 and 8.30 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays)... The Twin Towers bit is absolutely hilarious, one of my favorite bits of animation ever is Homer descending one tower, running between them, then ascending the other before relieving himself. It's absolutely priceless.
