Can anyone recommend to me a good kde ftp program?

i'm using knoppix, btw.

also, when I get one, how do I compile it from the source? (The general compilation procedure would be nice) The whole compiling thing is still new to me. Why don't developers include a pre-compiled executable along with the source?

You know, in most any case, a program doesn't have to be designed for KDE for you to be able to use it. Lots of programs are built around just working on the X system itself, not on the environment the X system is running.

kbear. It should be included with Knoppix, and if not, it should. And download it. NOW.

Poke around in there, I had to use knoppix once upon a time to fix something on my site, and it had a GUI ftp client in there.

Why are you trying to compile from source? Are you in an hd-install of KNOPPIX? If so, you can apt-get install <program here> and it will download and configure it for you. You don't need to mess with all that source garbage! That's the whole reason Debian > most others, because of it's awesome package management.

So:

apt-get update # This will update your list of packages to the most current
apt-get install gftp # This will install the ftp client

Then, just type "gftp" and it will open...
