It looks so weird having such bright areas contransting with the dakrness of doom3.

That is true. Prolly if I to play the game for real, I wont use the HDRish. However, for those who think the game is too dark, this helps a lot.

Interesting, but that's more of a bloom effect than an HDR effect.

Looks more like bloom than HDR, and too much bloom at that.

it's the "HDRish" smart shader... only for ATI users... and only OpenGL

yes it's just a bloom effect... and on dark games like Doom 3 it looks good... games with bright areas... it can blind you

After playing through a bit of D3 with it some areas are way to bright.

You can tone it down

1st shot looks alright... second is horrid... 3rd is prolly the best in here. looks more realistic in some ways, but so much less realistic in many more ways... eh. i think whatever hl2 has for this hdr/bloom/whatever the hell it is looks better.

Ditto. Take out the demon monster thing in the first shot and it'd look almost like real life.

Where is it and will it work with the demo? If it does, it'd get me to run through it again. I played it once, then never went back.

THIS IS A THIRD PARTY SMARTSHADER EFFECT IT ONLY WORKS ON ATI HARDWARE

Indeed. How does one enable this smartshader? it's the first I've heard of it... I'm intrigued. :)

run the little program and open the HDRish.pss file with it then run an opengl game

why? it's a smartshader effect... smartshaders are an ati thing and it has nothing to do with doom3...

it's a "feature" (gimmick) of the ATI drivers...
