Based on the book by Philip K Dick, same director as the great film " Waking Life". It looks pretty good, good cast : Keanu Reeves ( eh...), but Winona Ryder, Woody Harrelson, and Robert Downey Jr.

Isn't it ironic how the movies is about America loosing the drug war, and the actors(except Winona) are somewhat notorious for past drug use?

Yes, Winona Ryder!

I rented Waking Life once. I was sick and didn't really feel like engaging my brain, and found the movie incredibly boring.

It seemed like a long-winded philosophical lecture. I think I'd only like that if I was in a certain mood.

MB already posted a thread on this a few days ago :p

Anyways, I can't wait for this movie. A Scanner Darkly is my favorite PKD Novel by far. I think the rotoscoping they've used is perfect to bring a messed up world as only Dick could make it to the big screen. Hopefully this movie wont follow the annoying trend of PKD Movie Adaptations sucking.

Sucking? Admittedly, Paycheck wasn't up to par, but Bladerunner, Minority Report.... even Screamers wasn't too bad.

Hey, Bladerunner was a good movie... :) But yes, Minority Report was a letdown, and I heard Paycheck was too, so I never saw it...

Can't wait for the movie, though...

Bladerunner was excellent, Minority Report was pretty good, Total Recall had its moments but the ending sucked and had nothing to do with the story on which it was based, Screamers, Paycheck, and Imposter were all pretty bad.

As has been said several times now, Bladerunner kicked major ***. I love that movie...

I think I'll watch it when I get home.

They should make a movie about shoplifting!!

Then when Tom Sizemore comes out of prison (if he goes, which it seems he will) they should make a movie about drug abuse, fake urine samples and wife beating!!

Yay Hollywood!!

I LOVE PHILIP K. DICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I am excited. A Scanner Darkly was so beautiful and touching and honest. And Keanu Reeves. AND WINONA RYDER!!!

The trailer for this movie is the reason I went to see Constantine...that and Keanu Reeves.

I think they filmed it and then painted over it. I'm not sure if I like it either, and I'm the kind of person who usually likes unconventional artistic stuff like that.

Rotoscoping

I <3 Dick and Waking life as well.
What if everything that exists is fragmentary, incomplete, aborted, events with ends but no beginnings with us constantly making categories, seeking out, and reconstructing, until we think we can see total love, betrayal and defeat, although in reality we are all no more than haphazard fractions. The mind, for its own self-preservation, finds and integrates scattered fragments. Using religion and philosophy as the cement, we perpetualy collect and assemble all the garbage comprised by statistics in order to make sense out of things, to make everything respond in one unified voice like a bell chiming to our glory. But it's only soup. The mathematical order of the universe is our answer to the pyramids of chaos. - Stanislaw Lem
