What game? If it's JK I'm no good, I don't have JA, but I can work on something for outcast.
It took a while for you to find me; I was hiding in the lime tree.

You are right, oSiRiS.... and MLP5 will be the next. :D

I say BAH to you NAY sayers! We all ready have Spiral and Freelancer on the roster, and I'm in, too... and I know more will follow.... so it's gunna happen no matter how many object! I mean what's so bad about making one more collection of great maps in honor of our great community?

You diserve you're own private BAH! for that remark, Cazor. I never have much of any time these days for editing... but I do it anyway because I love it, and because I love the community. And what's your point about Massassi, anyway? Maybe it's the last remaining JK community because it was the best and the strongest... Let's face it, Massassi's not going anywhere...

We'll be seeing great things happen to JK this year... Everything from an up-to-spec launcher, to an all out high-poly remix of JK:MP.... you'll see. So in the mean time, lets see those screenies!!!!

I would attempt to submit something.

If a contest is held, I'd only like to see a level pack released if it were quality stuff. Otherwise, deal out some praise and just release the levels individually, no sense releasing a sub-par level pack.

What new feature could be expected, and what would a vague deadline be?

For the handful of guys who would submit levels...

Why don't you just make some levels, contest or not? And release them in a pack? Just because there's not enough interest to hold a contest doesn't mean you guys can't still make something, if you want. And give yourselves deadlines...to keep Slaw on track.

Okay, so it's settled. Go make some levels.

HR thinks because he's a revolutionary Neo-Nazi of JKHub that suddenly the MLP packs should be called "JKHub" packs.

only 1 suggestion.. make it to where 16bit mats are allowed...

Winamp 5 = 2 + 3 because that's basically what winamp 5 is. 2's functionality with 3's skinning minus it's suckiness.

And uhh, I suck at editing but I'll sure as hell play it :)

Wasn't there a map contest for Spiral's Lab mod? I assume it died out.

If 16 people really submitted levels, then we would have a real contest on our hands. For deadlines, how about the end of April sound? That way it would be done before people had to start worrying about finals.
2005-03-07, 8:47 PM #61
I think we'd have more submissions if we gave it 3 months.... thats about how long I had for MLP4... and could even allow time for people to make more than one entry.

End of July then? That would give people enough time after finals... thats 4 months rather than 3. The problem is a lot of people have finals in late may and early June.
2005-03-07, 9:22 PM #63
I've got another idea that could possibly generate interest in this... what if the judging was public, anyone could download the entries and participate, and the winners were decided by either a popular vote, or a combination of a panel of judges and a popular vote?
2005-03-07, 10:27 PM #64
hmm.. sounds good to me...

about the lab pack.. the reason it fizzled out is because everyone kinda gave up on their levels.. also, the levels were supposta be released with Lab vol 2... but I have yet to recieve a level, or even hear about it.. so I figured.. why bother.

If the voting and all the entries were public, why would anyone bother to download the winner's pack?
2005-03-07, 11:14 PM #66
Yeah, I don't think I like the idea of making it a popular vote. I mean, the public at large elevated JHS to godlike status. Is that really what you want for MLP5? If you go for a combination public/judges, weight the final decision in favor of the judges 60/40 or something.

Secondly, what are the rules this go-around? What's the word on 16-bit mats and support for non-patched JK executables?

I'll jump in for the sake of it. Don't expect too much though.

Hello All.

Sure, I'd be up for that.

What kind of specs we looking at here?

( this could inspire me to finish alot of levels that i'd started )

Anyone decide whether we can use 16bit mats?
Skyboxes?
New custom mats, 3dos, sounds, etc?

Any concept ok?
Terrain?
Theme?

16 bit mats would definately be allowed, thats not an issue with the computers most people have these days.

I dont know about requirements for non-patched versions of JK... I'd have to talk to Brian about it. I'd say at this point though, assume that a requirement will be that the level has to run on non-patched versions without homing.

I'd say count me in, but I am undeniably the slowest editor on earth.

I might be able to do something... I can't make any guarantees.
2005-03-08, 6:41 AM #71
Sod it: I'll have a crack through easter, and if it's not finished by then, after finals.

And I demand a wooden spoon ;)

I shall be asking for refresher courses and tips from all you awesome editors, so be warned :D

Thats so sad! I wanted to make a submission for it, but I all ready had too many projects at the time... I had the whole thing planned out too... it was gunna be similar to the asylum/lab place in Zork:Nemesis... all well.

So... is this going to happen?
2005-03-10, 12:46 PM #75
It will if you get cracking on a level. ;) I'm working on mine. All that needs to be done is for someone to make an official news post with a specific deadline sometime in June.
