^It's a forum, so language warning I guess

I'd heard rumors, and now there's proof. I saw these in my friend's PCGamer and there was a nice long article, with the screenshots in the link. These guys are saying it's the D3 engine, but those aren't stencil shadows and the tanks don't look plastic so I doubt it. Also, the article didn't specify what engine, but it's definitely not Q3. I read elsewhere that there will be player classes and such like UO, so it probably won't be nearly as good gameplay-wise as the originial.

Ah, scroll down, JoeT knows what he's talking about.

Soooo, not to go off on too much of a tangent but... Who's going to be the first developer to do a respectable FPS singleplayer campaign from the Axis point of view?

It has been done for flight-sims, submarine-sims, tank-sims, strategy games, and it is common fare in multiplayer FPS's. Is it still too provocative?
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

Defense is boring, but hmm playing as the Japanese wouldn't be too bad.

Doom 3 is capable of soft shadows, and it doesn't have to 'look like plastic'. It does look a bit like the Doom 3 engine, really.

It could always be a highly modified Q3 engine...again. I doubt it's the battelfield engine. And I seriously doubt it's the UT engine. There's not many more engines left :p

The PCGamer article says that there are plans to eventually make a German Campaign for CoD2, but nothing in the immediate future.

Erm...United Offensive didn't have player classes. Just what weapon you spawn with. You can change weapons.

I think they meant ranks.

I think it would be interesting to have a German campaign. It wouldnt really be provocative unless you were playing the part of the SS... which I doubt any gaming company would have the balls to do. Think about it... Germany v. France, Dunkirk, N. Africa.... Rommelly goodness.

It's not the Doom 3 engine... if you read through the thread, there's a link to scans of the enitre article.
I bet you think that's funny, don't you.

That's a nice sig....CoD2 also looks nice.

Am I the only one who thinks CoD 2 looks like crap?
Think while it's still legal.

No, you and sir swears a lot on the forum both think it looks bad.

Fortunately, you're the only two (and there's probably a good reason for that)

Scans from a magazinea are the best way to tell how good a game looks.

Either way, this is only what...4, 5 screens? We'll see when movies, screens, demos, and the actual game comes out, eh?

Look at the 2nd screenshot. The player models look pretty bad, and the gun models are rectangles. I know these are bad magazine screens, but the textures also look pretty narfed.

Trust me, these pics don't do them justice. I've seen the PCG mag. They don't look bad at all.

If nothing else, it looks no worse than CoD1. At least, judging by the screens.

Those are more to do with the printing resolution of the pics in the magazine than anything else (I'm looking at the shots in the mag itself).
