I just hope they do Salute your Shorts next!

Pete and Pete was never my favorite show, but I know some people are obsessive about it. Glad to see Nick is seeing that the generation that watched these shows are now grown up and can afford them.

They should put a petition for Rocko's Modern Life. I loved that cartoon. It was the greatest. NARF.

Was Artie (the strongest man... in the world!) on the show during the first season? He's definitely one of the best characters ever created. I can't see myself spending money on this DVD if he's not included. What about the Mr. Swirly episode? When was that made?

yeah, a petition will work if its showing that a company can make a bunch of money because a lot of people want something. yeah why not, make money, sure.

normally petitions work the opposite way and dont make any money for the company being petitioned(or possibly lose money at the expense of making some 500 fans a little happier), so they dont bother.

I liked Pete and Pete when I was younger. Now I think I'd like it even more: I hear that it had cameos from Michael Stipe, Iggy Pop (!), Steve Buscemi, Debbie Harry, and David Johanson (!!!)
It's not the side effects of cocaine, so then I'm thinking that it must be love

Oh man, now i'm not sure. I think I was thinking Welcome Freshmen, but I think I might have mixed the two beginnings, cuz I remember that title...hmm
2005-03-04, 9:38 PM #20
Welcome Freshmen was a sitcom type of show following several high school students and Vice Principal Lipman.

You Can't Do That on Television was more of a sketch comedy show that originated in Canada and was the start of where Nickelodeon got its penchant for sliming. Also had the "locker sketches" where people stepped out of lockers to talk and then went back in, as well as Barth's, where the food caused vomitting, and who could forget the introduction to the opposites...?

Yeah I remember them stepping out of the lockers, but I also remember Welcome Freshman. I think I was referring to You Can't Do That on Television then. Cuz I remember them opening up the lockers saying something and then closing the locker

I was only 4 when Welcome Freshmen came on. The only thing I remembered was that the dumb guy was my favorite character, and there was someone in a turtle suit. From what I found on Google, it was a sketch comedy show for the first two seasons, but then changed formats to become a poor man's Saved by the Bell, and off it went.

What was the show where the guy rode around on a motorized recliner? I think it was a sketch comedy show, so it might have been You Can't Do That on Television.

I remember YCDTOTV by the kids getting slimed for saying "I don't know" and those skits where the boy is about to be shot by a firing squad but the commanding officer always ends up being shot instead.
2005-03-04, 10:01 PM #25
Oh I remember the officer getting shot in the head too! *sigh* good times lol ahhh to be young again haha jk

I know exactly what you're talking about, but it wasn't You Can't Do That on Television. It was a shorter name, like two words. I remember because my mom tried to ban my sister from watching it and theres no way she said that whole name. I can find out easily though.

That was a really funny show though, it was basically just a large soundstage and they did all these skits without sets and such. The "father" had his mobile recliner with a lamp, tv and other junk on it.

Any other time I'd be able to name it, but it's just a blank now...

Round House was the name, and one of the greatest shows ever. It's what gave me the comedic spark. Rocko's modern life also NEEDS to be released, or I'll bleed all over nikalodean's face.

I'll definetly get Pete and Pete, as well as Clarissa Explains it All. If Solute Your Shorts gets released, I'll piss myself giddy. I want my kids to be able to watch ALL of these shows.

Salute Your Shorts was awesome. Pete and Pete was...I never quite understood it. I watched it and thought it was interesting, but I just didn't "get" it.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Where did Nickelodeon go wrong? They used to have all these great shows, and now all they've got is that Rugrats spinoff and All That with the extremely unfunny new cast. If they release the original All That on DVD, I will die a happy man.
