I'm not that impressed, If he did it in one run it would be very cool, But if you use saves and loads, it sort of ruins the point..

That's rather fast... I remember when I first beat LoZ:ALttP (SNES version, of course) in under 10 hours. Of course, that was a perfect game (doing some things that aren't even measured), and I never had less than 50% health, and never actually used used any bottles, except to sell a single "good bee"... I don't like to blitz through a game, I instead try to get everything as quickly as possible...

As for some of the other games listed there... I know I've beaten the original Metroid in under 30 minutes, by skipping Ridley, and I might have skipped Kriad (I haven't playing in a long time, so I'm unsure if that's possible).

Of course, there's what's possibly the longest of all games: FF VI. They don't have it there, because the best time I've heard of for perfection is a "mere" 78 hours. I've yet to do it in less than 85. Of course, I find that the emulated version allows me to go at 1000% speed, allowing me to play it through without feeling like I'm wasting time. (Wasting time? On FF VI? Is that possible?)

Too bad there aren't any screen capture programs that seem to work with DOS games... I'd like to record some speed demos for DF, among other games... I've completed the "Secret Base" level in 1:15. Hard took 2:11.

I really wish I could save videos from metroid fusion on my GBA to beat the time.. I can beat the game in 0:51... I thought the lowest speed would easily break 0:45

I remember the old days, I could beat DF in a little over 15 minutes. The whole game. On hard.
See, I had no life, so I played it 24/7. Id do silly things like hold my breath while playing, and see if I could beat the level before passing out....

I remember in the README for the demo version of Wolfenstein, the lead level designer bragging that he was 'trying to beat his record of 5:10 for the first episode', that he was 'spending too much time in those rooms'. I though he was a damn lier, until I got my own time down to 5:32... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

This reminds me of Pac-Man... the first pefect game of Pac-Man, all 150 levels, all of the fruits, without dieing once, wasnt actually achieved until a couple of years ago.

I watched it... it would've been a bit more impressive if he didnt keep cheating by building staircases out of the mines...

I thought that was pretty ingenious. I also thought it was funny when he took advantage of some sort of clipping bug that allowed him to walk right through about half of the first outside level. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

What you call cheating, I call a skillful advantage. Youve got to give that guy props; he knows the game, problably better than anyone. Lord knows I couldnt beat HL in less than a day without dying at least a hundred times...
