Has anyone beat it yet? It's hard as hell! But it's also very fun. I think my problem is I keep engaging the TIE Fighters in the early stages instead of taking down the Star Destroyers. I think if I focus on the SDs, I'll lose a lot less wingmen. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] I hate having to do stage 4 alone. I managed to get to the trench run, and died 3 times in the trench (all to obstacles, though the first time I was close to biting the dust from the turbolasers). I got 3400 clicks from the exhaust port (out of 9999) and dies my final death.

I think he's talking about X-Wing Alliance... but its the Battle of ENDOR, not Yavin. Unless he is actually talking about a Rogue Squadron game or something.

Very addictive. My only complaint is the level of detail. I know he wanted to go for that retro arcade look, but better graphics would go a long way with this.

Arghhh, I just managed to make it to the exhaust port level with 23, YES, 23 wingmen! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif] I do pretty well in the trench, make it to the exhaust port, and I really don't know what to do, because there are no proton torpedos in this game.. I figure "maybe if I shoot it with lasers it will work".. no good. It says I missed when I clearly shot it all up pretty good. The worst part? If you miss, it makes you fly into the wall at the end of the trench and die. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif]

I *did* have one more life after that, but I lost it when I ran into the wall trying to dodge Darth Vader's lasers. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] Those things take off like 33% of your armor every time they hit! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/eek.gif]

Woohoo! I finally beat it! That trench run is almost as hard as the one in X-Wing. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] For all those in trouble, the secondary mouse button is your proton torpedos (only available in the trench run). I wish I would have known that sooner!

It's good except for me.. there is a small line at the top where the mouse pointer shows up when I move my mouse to the top of the screen and when I click it minimizes the game and wont let me continue playing [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] So i've given up playing because i keep accidentally clicking it.

Not bad... I downloaded them... except for graphics they keep pretty close to the story which is awsome.

fish, the secret is to engage the two SDs in the first stage, ignoring TIEs unless they're on your wingman. Every time you see one on your buddies, take him out. Otherwise, focus on the SDs. On all of the deathstar missions, the same goes. Focus on the turbolasers FIRST, then engage the TIEs, making sure to keep them off your wingmates in the process. Also, when the SD shows up on the surface of the death star, there is no need to take it on. It simply shows up, releases a crap load of TIEs, then jumps out.

Doing this I managed to finish the game with 23 wingmates. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

I heard that Battle for Endor required a pretty high-end computer or it would lag horribly. Is Battle for Yavin the same? I just want to make sure it's worth the download.

You don't need a super computer just a decent/average one.

I just downloaded it a few hours ago and played it twice, along with the Battle of Endor. In Yavin, I haven't yet gotten to the trench run. The TIES have a nasty habit of crashing into me. In Endor, I got to stage 5, killed over 200 TIES, but then they blew up all of my Mon Calamaris. I think I'm gonna be up all night now.

Hmm, what I did was fly in a rough circle (or square) rpeatedly. Start in the upper left corner, then jig to the upper right corner, then lower right, then lower left, and repeat. As long as you don't do this too quickly (make broad, exaggerated movements), you should be able to hold out. Once you get to 8,000 clicks or so out from the exhaust port, Han comes to relieve you.
