NYC wants another slogan...

...as the "World's Second Home."

http://www.cnn.com/2005/TRAVEL/02/17/ny.slogan.ap

I don't really know what the slogan means. I guess, terms like "The Big Apple" or whatever the hell New York City is called throughout the years don't hold much meaning. But, the "new" slogan brings me to the question, what was the world's first home? Too bad it's not even catchy.

I think it's pretty catchy.

It's supposed to mean that whatever country or continent you're from, New York can be your home.

Since when do you just make up a new slogan for a city. I'm sure "The Big Apple" came about naturally. This is ridiculous..they think they can just coin the term like that and everybody will start calling NYC "The world's second home" once in a while?

And the slogan sucks. Badly. Very badly.

What the hell is a naturally occuring slogan? All slogans are made up by somebody.

I predict that it won't catch on, and they'll lose heaps of money from this.

I guess "The World's Second Home" draws in the tourists more than "pile of burning wreckage"

I guess it doesn't "sell." I assume the mayor wants to attract tourism and make tourists feel "welcomed." And I don't remember average New Yorkers are often attracted to the idea of bringing in tourists to the city.

And by naturally occuring, I mean that some mayor didn't just say "Ok, new slogan! Everyone call NYC this plzkthx"

I say Massassi should come up with our own slogan for NYC.

Any suggestions?
