Bill Gates charged with speeding, film at 11

Spotted this while reading one of my dad's recent computer magazines. When I first saw it, I could have sworn it was a very convincing Photoshop job but apparently back in 1977, the Gatesmeister was caught speeding in Albuquerque, New Mexico in his Porsche and was arrested.

Doesn't look too worried does he?

I don't think that would cover it. I believe this calls for "NEO-OLD NEWS".

Gates speeds around his neighborhood all the time. The cops just don't bother.

I seem to recall a story where he and a buddy were pulled over with a bunch of phone phreaking boxes in their car, but they got away cause the police officer had no idea what they were. Anyone know what I'm talking about here?

You don't know New Mexico policemen. They have quotas to meet.

Except EVERYONE Phreaked back then, so why should we be suprised? I don't think my Uncle ever paid for a single telephone call he ever made until the 80s.

That was Steve Wozniak, I'm almost sure. Or maybe Captain Crunch... Someone famous, all he did was show them that it played music.

Yeah, it was both actually. They needed to call a friend for a ride and we approached by an officer. They told him it was a synthesizer though, and he gave it back to them. I think it was just after Captain Crunch got out of jail too, for phreaking

If you drive more than 20mph over the speed limit, the police have the option to arrest you for reckless endangerment.

I was pulled over for going 23 mph over the speed limit twice in two weeks and did not get arrested thankfully.
