Take a look at this.

Sounds neat...

But what does this have to do with ePenis?

For the short period where only a select few will have this in their computer, their constant bragging will probably only be for the benefit of their ePenis.

Until everyone else gets one. :p

Looks interesting.... but what's the point? Physics isn't nearly as processing-intensive as graphics; and besides, everyone's going to have multicore processors in a few years anyways... And it would mean another PCI slot taken up.

kyle, that remains to be seen, because games simply don't really employ advanced physics yet. I think this is a good idea...

It's an interesting idea...and the only reason physics aren't really process-intensive yet is because to simulate more realistic physics, something like this PPU would actually be necessary. I mean think about it. The physics in today's games aren't really impressive. They are just meant as eye candy in which objects in the game world kind of do what they would in the real world. Even games that boast more realistic physics like HL2 have pretty basic physics laws that are easy to break.

I can see this being beneficial in the future.

I was saying we should have these years ago. Glad someone else thought it up, we'll need it in the future.

I was expecting some kind of e-penis e-pump, or maybe an e-herbal e-supplement. I was mistaken :(

Games would have to be specifically written for this thing in mind, right?

Hah, I wouldn't save up for one just yet... we'll see. :p

Yes.... eventually though it will probably get a standard set of API instructions and be integrated into DirectX.

so not only do we have to list in our specs the CPU, RAM, vid card and sound card but now we have to list our physics card too?

It'll probably be integrated into mobo's in the future.

Physics can kill your computer just as fast as graphics. And they're nowhere NEAR advanced.

This is AWESOME, and I can't wait. Physics are the next big push in gaming, I've said. I hope this thing takes off, and doesn't die early.

I dont know how they are just going to incorporate something like that in games. The software has to be written around it so it will work and that could be a real pain. We'll have to wait and see how this goes.

One thing I don't like about this big physics push though, is a person shouldn't ragdoll outright when you kill them.... you know?

There needs to be a blend of animations and ragdoll... to make it more real..

Why? When someone dies, they lose control of their body.

Definition of kill in a video game != Definition of Kill in real life

Killing in a game means your health reaches 0.

Sure, shooting someone in the face should make them ragdoll outright.

Shooting them in the arm should not.

So is it possible to put physics in older game?

I agree with Rob. If you kill someone before they actually hit the ground, then ragdoll simulates that event gracefully. However, if you shot someone, and they end up dying 15 or 20 seconds later, they're going to have some control of their body still on the way down to the ground, and ragdoll is unnatural.

Oh man, I downloaded that "rocket" demo thingy.... its awesome. Bloody processor-intensive though.

I think where this thing will find its home is in console systems.
