Mission to Mars

Well I just watched Mission to Mars again, it was a while ago since I saw it before this time and now I know again why it suck so much.
I don't like that movie and I don't like the theory that humans are created by aliens...
And you?

It amazes me how Hollywood can screw up, time and time again, something as inherantly cool as going to Mars. Just think of all the bad Mars movies... Mission to Mars, Red Planet, Ghosts of Mars (I hardly even want to admit that I watched that last one).

I think I'm gonna go watch "Rocketman". That's about the only good one out there, besides Total Recall of course.

I certainly wouldn't buy the DVD...

Still, I would rather watch this twice than Battlefield Earth once...

Ghosts of Mars was a fun movie. Unlike Mission to Mars and Red Planet, it didnt try to take itself seriously.

I thought Mission to Mars and Red Planet were both watchable, but nothing memorable. What I really would like to see would be a Movie Trilogy based on Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars Trilogy (Red Mars, Green Mars, and Blue Mars) but it would only be good if it was a movie project with a scale that was on par with the Lord of the Rings Trilogy movies, which probably is not likely to happen.

YES!!! That would rock. Except you'd have to somehow find ways of aging actors from their 40's until they look about 200 years old...

Also, has anyone seen the movie that's just called "Mars"? It was direct-to-video, and it's even worse than the other ones I listed. The entire thing looks like it was shot in a warehouse; the audio dubbing is like 2 seconds off...

* SPOILER *

I very much enjoyed both the book and the movie. However, I dislike how the humans learned everything so quickly in the movie. In the book it at least took a semi-realistic amount of time, if I remember correctly. I was honestly suprised that the critics bashed it so hard, but maybe I'm just biased because I enjoyed the book so much.

why don't you use the spoiler tags instead?

My answer, meh.

I thought it was actualyl a really good movie.

The only flaw was the last 15 minutes... basically when they got inside the face.

The funniest thing. I didn't know you were talking about a movie when I voted in the poll. I thought you were asking if humans on Earth should attempt or organize a manned mission to Mars. I said no to that.

Never saw the movie though.

Why would you say no to a real-life mission to Mars???!!!

Red Planet was better, because it had a killer robot.

Red Planet was awesome.

Mission to Mars made me want to rip out my eyeballs and wash my brain in Napalm after I finished watching it. It's awful...

Yah. It kind of reminds me of Dog from HL2, actually.

Mission to Mars really bit IMO, too many errors and it just didn't have much to the story. I thought the ending was rather interesting though, good story based off the "face of mars" thing. And I can just grin to how many religion extremists were probably disgusted at the thought. :D

Still, I think Red Planet was much more fun. The characters had better development and the comedy was great. Also it just seemed alot more realistic with the way they did the ships.
