I've seen those all, so horribly made. They put real people in the middle of the cartoon and just blotch pink all over them. voice overs were bad, everything just bleh..IMO.

I *love* those movies.

Might not be your cuppa tea if you liked Jackson's movies though.

Well the thing is I saw these movies after reading the books, and before Jacksons movies.

WRAHH LOOK AT THOSE ORCS WRAH!

This is what I mean by they put real people in the film. It looks very horrible. Half the time it looks worse. Like in the pub oh jeese. Pink and green blobs dancing. Treebeard and Gollum are laughable (not people, just poorly made cartoons) Helms Deep is just a big grey block with green and pink blocks running around...*sigh*

What you have to realize is that these movies were targeted towards really really young kids. Remember those cheesy cartoons you used to watch on Nickelodean with the horrible animation when you were five years old? Thats exactly what these are. If you approach them understanding this, they arent that bad.

The Lord of the Ringwaiths looks like those creatures that sold C3P0 and R2-D2 to Uncle Owen in Star Wars A New Hope.

And add the fact that these were made in the seventies and it all makes sense. I remember watching these when I was a little kid (5 or 6) and I loved them.

I loved The Hobbit. The music and art was fantastic and it's just a plain fun movie. As someone stated above, they're oriented towards small children, but then again, according to Tolkien, so were the books. The Silmarillion though, is a bit more complicated.

The hobbit animated movie is wonderful. That's exactly what it should be, and i hope JP takes after some of it for the live action movie. Oh i can't wait. It's gonna be bilbo, gandalf, and 13 gimlis... bwahahaha. They're better be a lot of singing in it, too.

I hated those movies with a passion. well, the LotR ones, at least. I saw return of the king, and turned it off after i saw a ringwraith. they got them completely wrong. a skeleton on a winged horse. Could they have been any more cliche?

While the LotR series sucked, the hobbit was very good. And the music was some great stuff, and use Tolkien's songs. I really hope PJ uses Bilbo's songs wherever he gets the rights for that.
