I wish the elections were held in a steel cage, ala the WWF.. And instead of elections, they could be a fight to the death. Yeah, that'd be sweet. Nobody would mess with the US if its leaders were chosen by deathmatch!

In third-world countires, dictators have the distinct ability to have all their underlings doing the fighting... A deatjmatch between two canditates alone would not really be like that... (no guns, after all, as they make it too quick). And I imagine it would easily revive television!

That wouldn't work because both parties would need to find someone that is both a good politician AND a good fighter. No such human exists as far as I'm concern and no - Arnold does not count.
