Finally got these photos :D

The first one is me dressed up fully in my fire gear. This consists of:
- Cotton Shirt
- Cotton Shorts
- Long cotton pants (on top of shorts)
- Cotton Jacket
- Helmet
- Gloves
- Heavy boots
- Goggles
- Nappy (this is actually worn across the face.. its a cotton nappy. You can just see it there below my goggles)

In the shot I am wearing the nappy tied across my nose and mouth, then I have the collar of my jacket turned up, and goggles to top it off. It is quite hard to breath through all of that, but it works.
This shot was taken before I had used any of my gear.

The next shot was after I had been to my first fire.

Woo!
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

wow, wearing all that gear in australia must make you sweat off 10 kilograms of weight every minute its on.

I was about to comment on how the gear looked like a cheap costume. It looks a lot more authentic after a fire. That must be why they always look dingy. I never knew. At any rate, you're the thinnest fireman I've ever seen. But nevertheless you're awesome for doing what you do.

I haven't been in a big fire yet, so I don't know how I will fare in it.

You can actually move quite well in that gear. Turning your head can be difficult with all that stuff on, but general movement is not affected.

Its not a cheap costume though :P It costs around 900 bucks AU to get that stuff I think ( I dont pay for it of course ), and it is very effective at what it is designed for (keep the heat off).
