Well, my homepage is set to cbc's website (cbc.ca) and they have news on the front page. I load it up today and see the top story: Conservatives back traditional marriage. I mean wtf!! Thats the most interesting thing they could find? It;s the most obvious thing ever! Sometimes the stuff that makes it into the news just blows me away. I mean, a week or so ago, one of the top NATIONAL storys in Canada was an elderly woman that got hurt when some punk snatched her purse! Thats a frickin national story that was on headlines for a week!!

Anyways, this is not a gay marriuage debate at all, but a rant about stupid news stories...another thing that pisses me off is bad journalists...In that same case of the purse snatching, the journalist talked about the guy who did it appearing in court. His description "The young man appeared in court showing no emotion and wearing a blue shirt"...TFTI!!!

Well, the gay stuff is kinda news. They've always been against gay marriage, but now they're backing the "traditional definition". It's news because politicians are so nitpicky.

Stephen Harper held a rally here in Montreal two days ago. I was hoping for a gay protest or something.

haha, last time he had a rally a few months ago, there were like 20 people who attended. It was all over the news too.

I think Harper should just give up on Quebec altogether. The last election should've been a little hint. :p
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

He can take his anti-bilingualism and shove it for all I care. I am sure that most Quebecers (other than the 20 that were at his rally) think the same thing, or are gay. :p

Yeah, news sites often have to dig very hard for anything they could even pretend was "news" in any case.

It's times like these when I'm reminded of what Jon Stewart had to say about the Media in America: The Book. Sad, yet true, and very, very funny.

I really want to buy America: The Book (A Citizens guide to Democracy inaction).

I hate Stephen Harper, he's a creepy *******.

I support same-sex marriage, and Bill C-38 (well duh, being gay).

The Federal Court in California just ruled that banning gay marriage is unconstitutional. That's news.

Yeah, but that's California. In other words, it's not news.

Except that it was a Federal Court, which means it will eventually go to the Supreme Court of the United States. Thus, it is news, isn't it.

I guess such stories with the elderly woman abuse attracts attention for the media. She's a poor, old lady. If she was a regular woman, or even an average Joe, I doubt the media would care for the story.

Interestingly, none of the gay people i've known have had the "camp" accent. I know a handful of straight guys who've had it though.

No, it is a stereotype. Just because all gay people you've known (which could be very few, or maybe they were not real) did it does not mean that everyone does it. I don't, and the gay friends I have do not.

Why is it a stereotype? Because you are taking the characteristics of a few in a group and applying it to all of those in the group.
