*Warning, I say the F word in here*

Ok, am I just a dink (I am.. but..) , or did I have every right to react the way I did to this guy?

Seriously, I'm extremely pissed off right now. This guys stupidity hurts me. I NEVER get upset like this over the internet.. it's the internet! It means nothing.
But this.. this one just got me hot headed, boiling, furious, and whatnot. I'm just sent him this for a PM:

Let's debate about pop ups..
You \think that pop ups can only be in the form of a browser window.
Can you support your thesis?

Common sense dictates that the warning message clearly is a popup. However through internet lingo and semantics it is possible for this to not be dubbed as a pop up. Can you provide evidence of this?

I'm serious, by the way. I fully intend to discuss this in a serious manner.

He's right, you're wrong.

The word "pop-up," on the internet, on a tech support forum, implies that it is web browser-related. Additionally, your original post was completely useless to anyone who might want to help you, so it's understandable that nobody could figure out what you were talking about.

I think it's kind of stupid to say a pop-up is only spawned from a browser. On the other hand, they're not called pop-ups when applications use them. They're called dialog boxes.

Thrawn, I understand that. However, Azurues is used by almost everyone on the forum. I found out about it on that forum.
In addition, even after posting the picture.. putting it 100% in the clear, the guy was clueless to the problem.

I can understand possible confusion with my lack of description, but if you don't know what's going on, don't say anything.

The thread title says "Azureus question" and that is most definitely a popup.

He is indeed a stupid person, and Thrawnumbers is wrong

The important thing to remember when posting on the internet is that it's all just a bunch of text, and most of it was written by members of the population who are much more stupid than you. So if reading stupid stuff pisses you off...

I'm just saying that if EVERYONE is having the problem, as you imply by not describing what it is, they would probably either release a patch or tell people how to fix it. Surely if the problem as is widespread as your post implies, you don't need a new thread about it.

Ok, but actually denying that it could be described as a pop up is what got me. Sure you have different names for it initially, but alltogether saying it CANT be a pop up.. that got me ><

Anyway, the solution to your problem is to stop using crappy java software, and use the real bittorrent, or if you need more control, bittornado.

Azureus sucks so bad its not funny, not to mention lots of torrents ban them now.

It's not too bad. BitComet is worse. I personally use BitTornado, but I could use Azureus if I had to.

You were maybe a tiny be vague in your question but personally my first response would have been "what pop-up in Azurues?" because depending on the settings you can get loads, especially if your using it behind a NAT or on something similar....

So the guy responding was a little bit of a jerk...

As it was mentioned before, people on the internet are stupid, make things clear so as not to confuse them and let them keep their stupidity hidden from the world.....

If you're discussing it on the internet, a pop-up refers to a browser window that displays automatically, whether or not its wanted - for example, advertisements.

That little box that has shown up in the bottom right of your picture, with the little blue frog, is a notification. Its a notification from software you've installed. (No idea what software, but it looks like you might have Universal Plug and Play enabled anyway)

Personally I think you went totally OTT, but its a totally different forum so maybe blowing up like a supernova over such a small thing is commonplace there.
