What's good in Montreal?

Leaving tommorrow for a break from school in sunny Montreal, can't wait to get there, I hear it's good times.

I intend to find the best of Quebec there: Poutine, beer... and well, POUTINE!

Any places I should definitly check out? Brands of beer not to be missed? Sights worth seeing?

Be sure to check out the Peel Pub downtown, and to try out the following Quebec microbrews: Maudite, Blanc de Chambly and especially Blanc de Chambly, and Maudite. :p

If you want a really good poutine, stay away from the chain restaurants. McDonald's, A&W, KFC, Harvey's (etc...) all make poutine, but it all sucks. Good poutine in a place that's easy to find (there's quite a few of them around) is at Ashton's.

Be sure to go around the terraces in Old Montreal now that we're getting some decent weather. It's great place to just look around. The real attractions here are all in the summer time. :p

How long are you going to be here for?

We should get there Tuesday in time for the evening, and we will head back on Friday, après une courte période de récupération ;)

I am from Montreal. Yay! Good point Shintock. Stay away from the crappy poutines made in Fast Food Restaurants. The Old Montreal is a must, especially in summer. Lol, I just repeated what Shintock said...:rolleyes:

The obvious attractions:

-The olympic stadium
-The Biodome
-The botanic garden (summer only)
-The old port (summer only)
-La Ronde (summer only)
-The Jazz Festival (summer only)
-Just for laughs festival (summer only)

Basicly, what I'm trying to say is, you should've come this summer. :p
The music industry is a cruel and shallow money trench where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side.

Yeah, except there's nothing left in the stadium. :p

The Biodome seems pretty cool, my girlfriend went a few weeks ago, and she had a great time. The old port is cool in the middle of winter, people skate around there, but right now it's probably all slush and salt.

The biggest attraction in Montreal is my [snip]. People come from all over the place to see it. :p

I am skateboarding there sometimes myself.
From what I remember from a few years before, Biodome was boring. Some people like it...

The drinking age.
Got a permanent feather in my cap;
Got a stretch to my stride;

I suppose you don't find it exciting to see live species of fish that don't exist anywhere on earth but in that specific research facility!

Think about it - if a small bomb fell on the biodome, a couple of animal species would cease to exist for all time :eek:
