Sorry if I can't read some of the crazy stuff people type.

I'm dyslexic, and sometimes when people type like that it confuses poor Rob's brain.

Uhh, don't use em? :p

Download accelerators that create multiple connections to one server piss me off. You are basically forcing yourself in, and not allowing as many other people to connect to the same server. This becomes a real problem on overloaded servers.

Leechget, but you need the plugin too.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Let's not forget that many people such as myself, who are on dialup, need the ability to resume downloads, and so-called download accelerators are the most efficient way of doing this.

Having run servers in the past, I can sympathize. I would stop using them except uhm, I don't give a s***.

That's for IE only, our friend runs Firefox. Like you should. :p

And wget is for creating local, offline copies of entire websites (I think).

That goes without saying, and is why I posted a link to LeechGet, which is a download manager. The fact is that many "accelerators" are also "managers".

I use flashget.

There's a free version that flashes ads, and there is a pay version that is ad-free. (although "registering" only requires a few small registry tweaks ;) )

Surely you are not talking about making proprietary software free through...unsanctioned means on this forum...
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Not all programs do that multiple connections deal. However, just about everything resumes, including Firefox in most cases.

Firefox will resume in many cases, correct, but there's nothing more irritating than downloading 300/500 MBs of a file, getting disconnected, and then finding out that Firefox won't resume. Personally, I don't understand why browsers don't have better resuming support. They're decent, but they could be much better.
