Microsoft office voice Recognition

I'm typing this message using Microsoft office voice recognition software . Actually I'm not really typing , I'm saying it . I had to spend the last hour or so training my computer to recognize my voice that this is pretty cool , it still has a few bugs though. It doesn't recognize all the words I say . Sometimes it gets confused . And I'm noticing it keeps putting a space before the periods . It doesn't do that in Microsoft word , but it does in Internet explorer strange ...

Anyway, post your experiences with voice recognition software , and if you have the capability, create your posts using the voice recognition .

I sometimes talk to my keyboard when it spurts out stuff that I don't type. I tell it to do naughty stuff to itself. :o

...

I've used Office's voice necognition before, and I just talk too fast for it, and I don't have the patience to talk slowly, either. :p

dduuuuuuuuuude! That's so cool! I had no idea this was actually possible. I wonder what this will mean in a few years... will typing become obselete?

Possibly. again I have written this without touching my keyboard . You do have to talk a little bit slow but it's not a bad .

Voice recognition on the PC has been around since the early 90's. :p

IBM ViaVoice anybody?

Oh, and the whole thing is, the computer will recognize certain voice commands as well. For example, if I'm using Microsoft word, I can say bold, and the text will become bold. Or you can switch to voice command mode, and say something like file, edit, tools etc. well, it even recognized when I said etc. but I have had to go back a couple times and fix some of the words in this, so it's still not perfect. But who knows it may improve if I do some more training.

Yeah, my dad set this up back home a long time ago, but you have to speak so slowly it's not worth my time. It's a lot faster if you just deal with it and type :p

Voice recognition is cool and all, but there are still two big problems with it:

1. It slows down the computer like nothing else (because even when you aren't saying anything, it's processing the hell out of whatever it gets in through the mike)

2. People still give you strange looks when you talk to your computer.

Hmmm.... maybe I should train it on this computer... should be fast enough to deal with any slow-downs (I had it running on a PIII 850 Mhz before, that's where my point #1 came from)

Yeah, Ive fooled around with the dictation software that came with OS/2 v4. Slow, inaccurate, and completely useless.
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

You mean you will use voice precognition, because you posted that before you actually used it, right?

Running on what though, a 486? First-gen Pentium? Those were the days.

I am not having very many problems with this. And it doesn't seem to slow down my computer much either. Though I will admit, I do have to talk a little bit slower than I would normally, but it's really not that bad.
