Post your favourite Beat-em-up and the reason why.

Hyper Street Fighter 2 for me because it has all the street fighter 2 games in one with the movie, and its so fast and frantic.

Oh yeah, and it has Ken and Ryu...
nope.

Dead or Alive 3, because I liked it better than any other fighting game I've played. It just seemed very well put together. Fun moves, good graphics, etc..

Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

Fastest pace, most destruction, and really represents the fluidity of the characters really well. Shame it was sprites on the newest systems to come out (which can handle much better) even if the background was 3D Models.

Street Fighter II series, Mortal Kombat series, and One Must Fall: 2097 were some of my favorite fighting games back-in-the-day.

Yes, OMF is hands-down one of the best. :D
It's pretty much the only one I still play (semi-frequently), so I guess that makes it my favorite.
May the mass times acceleration be with you.

What?
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

that was one of the easy ones.

no skill required at all.

just leave an unlimited lives unlimited time multiplayer match play overnight on about three or four nights and you will get the required 20 hours.

Bushido Blade on the PSX. Because punching someone 10 times in the ankle won't knock them out, but one quick lunge piercing the throat will put them down in a second. Fights take as long or as short as they have to. Using the environment to your advantage (spears are restricted in bamboo groves, while swords can slice through them). You won't win a newb just by remembering 10 move combos since even he can kill you with one well timed cut. Blind your enemies by throwing sand in their eyes. No silly fireballs either.

Last Blade 2 on the Neo-Geo arcades is great too.
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

Tekken's have always been fun. Except for the first one.

I recently rediscovered Mortal Kombat Trilogie although 3 was the best, IMHO.

I didn't like the Tekken-games. It felt really slow compared to MK.

One Must Fall mainly because it was one of the first games I really played.

And it's just cool.

So. Freaking. True. A fantastic fighting game that could REALLY use an update. Hell, if we had some of the technology that's in other fighting games in a bashido blade game, we'd actually be able to have REAL tourniments, with different player styles. OMG, And a create a character!? Bah, why ISN'T there a bashidoblade 3?

Or do what I do: play so much it doesn't matter.

SSB:M and SCII are my favs.

SSB:M probably the most, its so in-depth.

In addition, I probably have the longest play time logged in SSB:M than anyone else here. It's crazy just how much I play it.

Has nobody heard of Ehrgeiz? It was a fighting game, with great characters, but then there was also an RPG mode where you could control one of two of the characters and explore randomly generated multi-level dungeon. It was awesome.

Not even required.
Plug two controllers in, put two players in melee, leave it so for a night. The game records two people playing for ten hours as one for twenty. I wish I had four. There's a trophy or something you get agter, like, 1050 hours or something. Damn.

-I, just today, unlocked: Falco, Roy, Marth, Brinstar Depths, and event matches 31-35.

DBZ: Budokai 3. I just love going Super Saiyan 4 and beating my stepniece down.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Tekken 3 and 4 have eaten my life at times. Mortal Kombat?! It was just a gimmik: the game was no-where near as flowing or as intricate as Street fighter [version >= 2].

I can't seem to clear Event Match 50, you know the one where you face Master Hand and Crazy Hand. I can kill one of them, but then I'm usually at 50% so one good slap and I'm out. :(

Here's what you do:

Take the crazy hand out first. He attacks far more often, and is less predictable.

Shield whenever possible. Most of the hands' attacks have a larger radius than you can roll out of, and ground dodges do not last long enough for most attacks. Air dodges are generally even worse, since you'll often fall into the hands afterwards, unable to avoid contact. Save your double jump as much as possible, and never use a recovery technique from the ground. (If they hit you while you are doing it, or if you miss, you automatically lose all your jumps, leaving you only with that recovery move)

Make sure to use some of the higher-ranked characters, such as Marth. (Sheik is actually not a great choice. You need heavy damage, and decent recovery. Shiek gets thrown around too easily, and definately does not give up enough damage) Pikachu is ironically a good choice for this event, with powerful air attacks, decent recovery, and thunderbolt, which dishes out damage above from below with hardly any downtime.

Also, do whatever you can to avoid the double-hand attacks, especially the grabs.

Take your time. The clock isn't important in this match; keeping your cool and concentrating on that crazy hand is the key.

(Oh, and if you hate Event 50, wait till 51. Now THAT'S a PAIN. Especially if you want to defeat it the fair way, not the cheating way. (There's a way to make the CPUs kill themselves, but its really cheap.)

ROFL, 51 Jigglypuff? No WAY. Marth if you don't want to cheat, Peach if you do.

Peach you can just keep floating there for all eternity, and her air recovery allows her to float back to the ground with safety. (The umbrella does damage even while she is falling)
