Good PC driving game?
2005-03-28, 4:26 PM #1
All these GT4 shots are making me want to drive...something other than the POS out in the driveway. And I dont care if its simulated.

So whats a good realistic PC driving game that preferably doesnt require too much resources? I dont care if its a little old, because then it would probably be cheaper which is good, and my PC is more likely to run it well, as long as its fun and realistic.

Think while it's still legal.

Need for Speed
Cant tell you how realistic is is, seeing as I haven't played it in a while (well over a year ago), but I found it a lot more fun than GT
May the mass times acceleration be with you.

good, although the car doesn't handle too realistically. There's not enough traction, so its like driving on ice.

NFS is horrible :P

Get Toca 2, though I'd recommend a steering wheel. Toca 1 though it's too bad on keyboard.

An older racing game that I still love to play is CART Racing, made back in like 95 (whoa that was 10 years ago). Very realistic driving pyhsics just lacking in the graphics department.

Get Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed or Rally Trophy. Both are great and both are cheap.

Richard Burns Rally, near perfect rally simulation. I love this game.

Sell your body to get money for a PS2 and Gran Turismo 4. Dispose of internal organs or just prostitute yourself, it's all good

Listen to this man - he speaks the truth. NFS Porsche Unleashed is a most fabulous game - not to mention you can get it for not but a few dollars.

Is there any way to get that to work on Windows XP? Cause that game freakin rocks.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Not Free, nor are the physics realistic. But that only adds to the gameplay. I highly reccomend it. In fact, I think im going to play now.

TOCA Race Driver 2. It's not terribly realistic, but if you set it to sim mode, and you've got a good analogue gamepad or a nice force-feedback wheel, then it's great fun.

The best part, apart from the stunning graphics is the broad variety. You've got the DTM (2002 vehicles), Mustangs, Convertibles, Trucks, Landrovers, Formula Fords, Oval Racing, Street Racing, Ice tracks, Vintage cars, Australian V8 Supercars, and more. Admittedly some cups are decidedly more fun than others, but there's still much more hit than miss.

I hear the new GTR FIA game is very impressive and realistic, if highly daunting.
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

It's nothing special anyways, I though it was gonna be the best racing game ever too, but I got bored of it after like a week.

that driver.nl game seems to really hate my vid card.. its very buggy and crashes a lot.... :(

It works if I leave everything stock, but if I add new cars/tracks, that's when the problems begin. The modeling on the cars is exquisite, but what good is it to me if I can't play it?

Richard Burns Rally is great. But i wouldnt even consider buying it unless you have a steering wheel/pedals. If you do, definatly get this game, it's awsomly real.
