Does ANYONE still play JK?
2005-03-28, 6:56 PM #1
From what I've heard, JK was taken off of the zone lists, which is lame, but does anyone still play it, and if so, how?

If you're wondering, I haven't played in years, so yeah, anyone?

Nope.

I have not played it in years. Although I believe full-heartedly that it is by far the best PC FPS of all time ever.

It's installed but...I haven't opened it up in long time.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

Without a doubt, lots of variety due to all the mods.

I still play at least once every two weeks, I still do a little editing every once in awhile too.

I have a saberbot on one of my junkier computers that's been in-game for over a month now, wandering aimlessly around Canyon Oasis. I occasionally log in and slap him around a little.

No. :(
Mostly because I dont run Windows anymore, but also because Ive giving up gaming entirely. It was a hard choice, but it has allowed me to concentrate on more important things... :\

And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

Hmmmm... saberbot... sounds like quite the idea! :D

I actually played this the other day with the FRmod over MSN. A great 5 hours.

He has over 1000 kills, most of which were from when I set my newest computer up as a saberbot and let the two bots go at it.

For the record, a GeForce3 ti200 saberbot beats a Radeon x700 saberbot 3 to 1 (kills were about 600 to 200 in favor of the GF3).

Not sure why and it didn't matter who hosts.

It's obvious! Everyone knows that a GeForce owns a Radeon.

Then again, I'm just saying that cuz my Radeon screwed up my computer back in the day

Same. I might fire it up with vsync off and see what fps I can pull in 1280x1024, though... :p

I still play against the bots that Raynar made because I get my *** handed to me on a silver platter by any human players.

We had a LAN/sleepover friday night and played JK all night. SOOOO much fun.
That painting was a gift, Todd. I'm taking it with me.

How do you turn vsync off in JK anyways? I would like to see what framerates I get too.

You can still play JK on the zone, you just have to link to it directly.

That's... wow. I feel bad for you. I remember back in the day, when I got JK, I had a P100 with 32 megs of RAM and no graphics card... I had to run JK at 320*240 if I wanted a decent framerate, but dammit, I still had fun.

I wonder what framerate my current computer would get in JK.

Sometimes. That pretty much happens with every game I have, I play them, and sometimes I play them again! Woah! Except for Tomb Raider games and Croc: Legend of the Gobbos. And maybe TPM.

I would but I tried installing it a couple months ago and it wouldn't run right. For some reason the physics were all messed up. Moving felt like controlling jello and I would run way too fast.

Yeah, I had that problem playing MotS for the first time in ages the other day. Everything went waaay too fast, the game was much harder.

Maybe he'll develop artifical intelligence and become self-aware if you leave him alive long enough.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

Oh, I have been playing through MOTS and JK recently. I don't think I ever did that without cheating, so thats what I am trying to do now. I am also making a few levels. I finally got a GeForce 2 for the computer in my room so I can play the game at good framerates in full detail.

I hate to admit it but i've never played JK, commence stoning of me now
nope.

No, but without a doubt it is one of the best FPS's I have ever played.

I wish the sequels would have brought back the great quality of JK in MP and SP.

Silly Boco, we don't stone people here. We can be much more creative than that. You'd be surprised how long you can keep someone alive burning off different body parts with acid...
