We might stop and make a detour to go pick up another freind in Denver if they are up for it.
My freind is going on her new Yamaha YZF R6. A couple more of us will be driving in a van following her with supplies.
38 hours straight driving to Denver. We'll be doing rounds in the van. My freind is crazy and is going to do that all without sleep. She's done longer periods of driving before without sleep.
Probably going to cost us around $700 or so for gas, split that between 4 people it's not bad.

3 and a half days of driving.
5 days in Cali (3 in LA and 2 in SanFransisco)
1 day in Vegas (Woo!) = 9 day trip.

Drive 32 straight hours to Denver. Portland to Denver - 2091mi.
Sleep 12 hours.
Drive 14 hours to Cali. Denver to Cali - 1018mi.

So around $700 in gas, and probably equally as much in booze. :)

Yea, so people post their road trip experiences! This is my fifrst one that will last more than a day out. I've said "Screw it" And just started driving to Mass or something for the night. But nothing big.

Oh, sorry about the size. Changed to a link (I'm too used to my 1680 width screen...)

And if you bring booze, anyone is welcome to join!! :p :p

Yea, I plan to stop in Chicago to see a freind if she's there.. (Dosn't know if she'll move by then or not) so I might have to catch up with her over some of those..

I came back from an awesome road trip through central Australia about a month ago. I was gone for about 3 1/2 weeks. Had an absolute blast! Drove from Melbourne (near the very bottom of australia) right up to darwin (one of the highest points of australia). Saw Uluru (ayers Rock) Kings Canyon, Kimberly Gorge, Kakadu national park, Litchfield national park, and hung out in the outback pubs and bars that most people only read about. Too many stories to tell. All up, we drove over 11,000 kilometres.

Wow that sounds like an awesome road trip! But spend more time in Vegas. Hell I could spend 1 day [straight] at a texas hold 'em table. Yours sounds great too, Chuckles. Always wanted to drive through the Northern Territory, are there still no speed limits on the outback roads there?

Last road trip I went on was from Melbourne to Adelaide (about 1000 kilometers) and back. We went along the Great Ocean Road on the way there, which is an amazingly twisty and hairpin-filled road which closely hugs the rugged coastline for a few hundred kilometers west of Melbourne. Unfortunantely I didnt have my licence back then... Must go back some time.

That's right - no speed limits. We didn't really try to gun it too much, because the car we went it was kinda falling apart (EA Falcon), and our tyres were really bald. And also when your driving at night, you run a big risk of hitting wandering cattle on the highway. If you hit one of them at 100 km/h, the bull bar would take out their legs, but the whole weight of the body would come crashing through your windscreen. We almost hit one.
In Alice Springs, our car was broken into and the ignition was damaged. We had to push start the car all the way from Alice Springs to Darwin. that was very unfortunate, especially when just 2 of the 4 of us on the trip went early morning barramundi fishing on the Daly river: We came back to the car, managed to push start it with only 2 people, only for it to stall in a big 4wd ditch. We were on one of those outback roads that only a few cars a week ever drive down, and it was over 40 degrees celsius. After 2 hours of pushing , heaving and heatstroke, we finally managed to start the b*tch, but for a while it was quite scary.

Driving 32 hours is idiotic and stupid, especially on a motorcycle.

I drive back and forth from Sept-Iles to Montreal twice a year (1000 km). I love driving.

You should come down to San Diego then go up the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) while going to L.A. and S.F. Once you get into Ventura County it's a BEAUTIFUL drive.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.
