Help on thoughts

A strange thing I noted recently, is that I have to make a conscious effort to verbalize my thoughts. It used to be verbalized thoughts -> more verbalized thoughts -> etc... which I think is the standard way for everyone.

Now what happens is just thoughts -> thoughts. Normally, if you want to encode something in your brain, you put it into structure, into words. But now I just have thoughts. I base future thinking and actions on them, but if you'd ask me what they were, I'd have to try consciously to put it into words, even for myself.

I'm insanely confusing.

Does that make sense? Anyone of you recognize this? I'm not sure if my thought process is faster, or if my verbal IQ is going down.

Actually I'm fully aware of what you're thinking like, I usually only unverbally think when it's not important or it's to do with my feelings for people. Otherwise it's just verbal.

For me it depends on what I'm encoding. A lot of things are in words, but stuff like chronology just gets encoded into thoughts.

I don't usually think "in words"... sometimes I'll be thinking of something, then realize there aren't actually any words that describe it... it's really annoying, because it makes it hard to explain to other people when you have to make up new words to describe your thoughts.

I know exactly what you mean. For me, I'm mostly that way until it comes to people making dumb comments, then somehow I spit back a smart*** retort before my brain knows what's going on, and it sometimes gets me into trouble.

Wait. If I have thoughts of scenery, a face of a person, or something of that sort, how would I quickly place that in words? I'm not sure. I believe, but probably I'm wrong, that thoughts about actions, certain events and information that I have read are the ones that are placed as words in my head.

This thread is simply confusing me now, I used to be at least wary of how I think, but now I keep wondering how I think and how I'm thinking that thought. Arrgh. *Oxy goes to doctor*
