Tuberculosis Infection (rather serious topic, help needed)

I've recently tested positive for Tuberculosis (not a severe case of it however, and I don't have any problems, but the skin test did say I have it). I might have gotten this from trips to Eastern Europe and Asia (I currently live in the US).

I'm going to be seeing my doctor about this again in a few days and did check up on some information about it.

Does anyone know if this is serious? Am I going to need the 6-month 4-pills-a-day treatment even though I've had the disease for an unknown amount of time without any serious symptoms?

I'm pretty sure it won't be a huge problem, from what I've heard. :]

Wow. Tuberculosis? But thanks to modern medicine, I think it can be treated quite well.

From what I've heard, the treatment is like you said, very intense, no matter what the degree of the infection. My g/f who's in med school says to make sure to take every single pill on time, because if you don't, most doctors will (by precaution) make you start the treatment over.

Have you been vaccinated for tuberculosis recently? It can cause a false positive on the test.

Just make sure to take the medicine. I'm in the same situation as you. The skin test means nothing more then you've been exposed to TB, not that you have an active case. Occasionally they will take a chest x-ray in order to see if your TB is active, but if your not experiencing symptoms, its unlikely that that is the case. I'm on a 9-month one pill a day treatment currently. The good thing about TB is that it can be treated with antibiotics and killed off so that you won't have to worry about it in the future.
Life is beautiful.

Don't you people get vaccinations in the states? Everyone over here gets a tuberculosis vaccine unless they have natural.... antibodies?
nope.
