Blizzard has recently placed a new rule into effect on all World of Warcraft servers. An error in their coding has allowed any player who can reach a roof to fire down at those in the city without fear of reprisal, because not only can the guards NOT reach the person on the roof, but if anyone on the ground retaliates, the guards will attack THEM instead. Hence, anyone found on the roof sniping players will be warned, and then disciplined.

The thread about this new rule has gone on for 30 pages on the WoW boards, and I'm just DYING. These people are complete morons. Maybe 1 in every 6 people is saying this is a good thing, and the rest have just been whining, usually in unintellgible "u r tok way mot fnu prat fo gaem lol blizerd i wont play nemor lol" speak.
They think that an ingenius argument is "If a lvl 60 (Max lvl) character can kill a lvl 20, that's not fair, Blizzard should ban that too" to which 5 of us respond "YES BUT THATS NOT EXPLOITING THE CODE!" to which 10 of them respond "STFU U RUIN TEH GAEM F4gRo7!"
Anyone who doesn't think people should be exploiting flaws in the game's mechanics is a "carebear who can't PvP"
Getting up on the roof is extremely difficult, and provides a huge tactical advantage, because almost no one can get up there to battle you, so of course their next main argument is "It's not an exploit because everyone can do it." Yes, that's brilliant logic. I'm not hacking, because anyone can download a hack.

Anyways, I'm just really angry at their stupidity and felt like ranting. Later dudes

Actually, it's not that hard. Of course, the only building I know how to get up on is the bank in Gadgetzan. But if I started fighting a Warrior from up there, he'd still never make it to me before I killed him though. Yes, it's an exploit. However, since fighting in Gadgetzan never happens on my server, it's just fun to get up there and wave at the Horde below.

Can you elaborate on that roof bug, I don't really understand.

An alliance player sneaks in to horde territory, gets on to a rooftop, and then fires at some horde player. That horde player fires back, and the horde guards attack the horde player?

I'd have to say I hope you are sarcastic, if not you'd be one of the reasons I don't want to play WoW anymore. I don't care specifically about the roof thing, I've never even seen it. It's just not fun playing with immature people who will do anything to win though. The community is horribly rude and spiteful.

EDIT: I did meet 5 or 6 nice people in 2 months playing.

No, he's talking about a neutral town, like Gadgetzan Booty Bay or Ratchet. If it happens in a controlled settlement, the guards won't attack the retaliator.

It's not really a bug at all. There's nothing stopping you from hopping up there and kicking their ***. Well, except that you'll be dead by the time you get up there...

Unless you're a mage or something, in which case you can just blast them with fireballs?

And get raped by a zerg of guards. What they should do is give the goblin guards guns.

I wanna get WoW, damn you monthly fees!
nope.
2005-04-03, 1:16 PM #10
I would get WoW too if it wasn't for monthly fee's. Why I quit Galaxies.

Everyone I met was extremely nice. The druids all gave me CotW, I got a couple gold from lvl 60s, and people helped me a lot in my 10 day trial.

I agree for several reasons:

1.) Too many Jedai.
2.) I got to Master Doctor and was like...now what? I'm bored.
3.) No one plays anymore (due to reasons 1).

Now they're comming out with some kinda Wookie expansion pack. :(
2005-04-03, 1:35 PM #14
i only ever ran into 1 jedi in my whole trial of it, but it was boring by the 3rd day
nope.

Well, I admit I have never played the game (and thus I should remain silent), but can't the character being attacked flee? The attacker probably has to come down one day from the roof, unless he/she plans to spent the rest of his/her monthly fees on living there, and then the guards would be able to attack him/her, right? No?

People really need to stop complaining about monthly fees on MMOs.

If it weren't for the monthly fee, there wouldn't be a World of Warcraft. It's just like a magazine subscription.

My main complaint concerning MMOs is that you have to pay for the software itself, and then continue to pay after that. If it was simply a monthly fee and no more, I would have no problem with it. As it is...

Well, I don't pay $60 for the magazine subscription card.

Nope.
You attack, the guards run at you, stand at the base of the building trying to get at you, but they can't, and eventually (to prevent them from getting stuck on a target) they stop trying to attack you, and you can safely jump down

One of my guildmates (a druid) in "Thieves and Charletons" on the Uther server used to use this tactic quite a few times to wreak havoc on Hammerfall in Arathi Highlands. There was a hole in a roof top where he would just sit back and moonfire anything that walked by. Because of his position, the town guards couldn't get to him and made at least 50% of the players that were in the town completely confused as to what was happening. Now that they are enforcing this rule, my buddy better not try this stunt again.

Bah. The best thing to do to players as a druid is to lead a cocky high level paladin into deep water, then drown the *******. Bwahahaha.

You can drown them with polymorph as a mage too, it's jokes.

Cept you can cast roots whilst they are rooted, reseting the "timer" thing that increses the chance of it breaking with the DoT damage.

They should make it so everyone can get up on roofs including guards or something...

I agree with Mikus on this one, it is an exploit, and one that should be dealt with.
Most of the people on the WoW forums are retarded.
Seriously, you see how many people complain about the simplest things?
