Alright.. Im taking a practice exam for my AP Modern Euro test, and this question has arisen...

The Pieter Brueghel painting (The question says (Circa 1569) but upon further research it was actually 1566-67) shown above pictures the massecre of villagers in

A)The Netherlands by Spanish Troops
B)Russia by Ottoman Troops
C)Spain by English troops
D)France by Sweedish Troops
E)Hungary by Spannish Troops

Now.. upon researching this picture, I read that it was in fact an invasion of a French City by Philip II of Spain.. now.. France by Spanish troops isnt up there, but that isnt up there.. so... Yeah

Oh snap.. The French city was in fact flanders.. which is in the Low Countries, or the French owned NETHERLANDS... Glargh

(A). The buildings look quite scandinavian, and the soldiers look quite spanish. that's about all I can say.

I'd say Netherlands by Spain because I found a site that says one guy in the picture is the Duke of Alba, and he carried out campaigns in the Netherlands.

I think It was Flanders by Spanish Troops. If it's by Brueghel, you can almost always say Flanders by default.

I think its the spanish and the netherlands too... But there is a HUGE story related to it
