Yeah, everyone at least has one insect they fear to have an encounter with, post it!

Me I have a few I dont want to encounter...

Human Bot Fly

Jack Jumper Ant

Oh and a small warning if you google search for the bot fly, some pictures are disgusting. I particularly dont mind bugs, its just these killer ones I mind. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]

Psst, a brown recluse isn't an insect. =P

Their bites can be quite nasty though. In some cases the venom "eats away" at the flesh and cause large holes in the flesh, heh.

Of course those are extremely rare and in most cases the bites heal with no need for treatment.

Crickets, I seriously have a problem with crickets. They are annoying when they are alive, but I just cannot bring myself to kill them, I mean their exoskeleton seems so sharp and jagged to me I fear that crushing them is going to be like stepping on a pile of broken glass, and leaving it there for the future. Like flakes of razor sharp metal, or a handful of hypodermic needles.

I'm happy I live in Finland where we only have one venomous adder and no spider (except for the cute "Daddy long-legs" variant) is larger than my thumbnail.

Which means that we don't have anything nearly as hideous as the Camel "Spider"/Solifugid.

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2"> Although they look ferocious and have a powerful bite, they are harmless – for humans at least.
Despite the name and appearance, camel spiders are actually solifugids which, unlike spiders, do not have venom or silk glands. They prey on spiders, scorpions, insects, small vertebrates and other solifugids. Usually nocturnal, they sometimes come out in the day but will seek out shadows, even if the shadow is cast by a human. If the person moves, the solifugid follows the shadow, which gives the impression it is giving pursuit. It’s easy enough to get that impression, particularly as camel spiders can move at speeds of up to 16km/h. </font>

*shudders*

All right, it's not strictly an insect, but still. It's still a multilegged exo-skeletal carpaced thingy.

On a related note, I'm not terribly fond of earwigs or centipedes or millipedes either.
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

That bot fly sounds gross.. Anyway, Darth, almost all spider venoms do that to skin. That's why its easy to tell when you've been bit by a spider. Anyway, probably the nastiest bug (bug as in the general category of creepy crawly thing) would be for me, the wolf spider. First off, the get real big around where I live in southern Indiana. Secondly, I've been bit by one before and it freaking scarred. AND IT HURT LIKE HELL!!!

I am happy i live in holland [http://forums.massassi.net/html/biggrin.gif]

We almost have NO venomes snakes (except in area's of protected nature) and no venomes spiders... Just these procession caterpillars are pissing me of. There hairs can cause MAJOR problems when they come in your mouth, nose or ears... Last week i got two in my throat (that somekind of DOCTER hurted me with a lot of things...), three in my nose (its strange when they pull out a stick with green stuf and a hair on it [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif]) and one in my ear (no paine at all)

Bees and bumblebees are alright. I don't mind them at all as long as they don't nest on the house. Wasps on the other hand, they get in your food, your drink, they're overly aggressive, and well... they're not even cute and fuzzy.
If it breaks, you get to keep both pieces.

I dont really mind bugs... just as long as they dont start trying to crawl down my shirt. After that, their *** is MINE!

Uh, I don't care for all the other critters, but I'm scared of wasps and bees and all those yellow and black flying bugs that sting to the point I seldom walk in fields and woods during summer.

Don't ask why, I've always been scared of them since birth.

I hate wasps with a passion.

(not White anglo saxon protestants, but the insect variety. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] )

Wasps are so damn mean, greedy, and stupid. I was eating chicken outside once, and wasps started showing up. I good-naturedly threw them a piece so they would eat it and leave me alone, bu the little s***s ignored it and started coming after mine. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/mad.gif]

Bees are okay. I have nothing against bees (but that may change now since most of the bees I see now are probably africanized) Bees want pollen more than anything in the world, and they will ignore you as long as you don't do anything stupid like threaten them.

I have nothing against bumblebees either, except when their loud buzzing and curiousity catches me off guard. Most times, the bumblebees around here turn out to be those shiny blue/green beetles, so I enjoy knocking those out of the air with a stick.

How the hell big do those things get?! (in inches or centemeters... i don't care which).

I have a deep rooted hatred of Wolf Spiders myself (especially with the "wolf spider from hell" that i spent the last 3 days dealing with. The damned thing ket coming into the house, getting thrown out, and coming back in (the new lightly-coloured tile floor doesn't help much either). By the third day, i was sick of it, so i flushed the little bugger. If it comes back again... i'm gonna get a little scared.......

Also I am skittish of most species of spiders. Especially the Brown Recluse. That thing is just not cool.
